I need to quit my current job today to start a different job on
Thursday. This was an oppurtunity that I couldn't pass up but again the start date is Thurs. I've been here for 7 months and it's a good company , I just wasn't going no where. Should I lie?

Never lie. You could take an emergency leave of abscence, for say a month. While having your so-called leave of abscence, send your boss and HR department a letter of resignation.

I'll add my vote to the many here who are the side of giving notice. It matters little that you won't be back to Subway, it matters to you personally and, in the future, professionally. Personally it matters because it is measure of your integrity. To be able to lift yourr behavior above your baser instincts when there is not any immediate reward in doing so says a lot about your character. And, professionally you want to preserve the ability to say to future employers that they may search anywhere, you have nothing to hide. Also, keep in mind that just because you don't list Subway on a resume there are ways to find it and employers commonly use those ways. The Work Number, Group One (for medical providers) and other such companies provide a reference service for employers. Let's say you apply for your lifeguard position, get interviewed and they make an offer based on your not having reported your time at Subway. The employer for the lifeguard position checks the Work Number and finds that Subway reported that you worked there for x amount of time and "abandoned" the position. The lifeguard employer could very rightly retract their offer based on your having falsified your application. Honesty and integrity, doing the right thing even when it may not be the easiest thing will get you a long way in the world.

i think that it is better talk to your manager and give him/her a 2 week notice. IF the company think you are doing a good job they might offer you a raise and make you stay.If not then jus leave nothing to stress about.
