I went for my 20 week scan and they couldn't tell what we were having because of this very reason. The Dr. couldn't even get all the pictures they needed of the baby. I go back on Jan. 17th for my 2nd scan. I was told by an ultrasound tech and close friend to drink a mountain dew and eat a small candy bar. The caffeine and sugar should make the baby more active. Hope this helps. I'm going to try it at my next ultrasound. Good luck.

i was in the same boat about 4 weeks ago! there is no 100% guarantee that the baby willl be in a position where the gender can be determined. medically speaking, the best thing you can do is drink plenty of fluids starting an hour before your appointment. this wil fill your bladder so it will push against the womb. this will cause the baby to 'fuss' and move around to get more comfortable. you will probably be very uncomfortable as they begin your ultrasound, but once they (hopefully!) determine the sex, quick take a potty break. once you return your baby will be moving round even more to get all cozy again. i believe this is a much better alternative then pumping sugar into your body. good luck!!!!

Eat something sweet 1/2 an hour before you go. That will make the baby active and move around.

Where I go they give me my own monitor so I can see :) its really neat. I'm sure they will let you see it too. They don't usually try to hide it from you. Some places will tell you if its a boy or girl. Unfortunatly they don't tell me :( I also heard that if they don' tell you, the put an M or an F in the top right corner. Best of luck

You need sweets and something ice cold to drink. They always tell me to drink a fountain sierra mist or 7up or a iced orange juice. Good Luck.
