Dont put this pressure on your self right now and dont allow your employer to pressure you for an answer yet either. No-one knows how they are going to feel after they have a baby, some women want to get back to work asap while others decide they cant bear to.
As this time you should let your employer know that you are likely to return to work but dont make any promises.
Make this decision later in your maternity leave. If you work full time, ask them if they are open to discussion about you coming back part time or on reduced hours. If they dont like the idea then you can maybe use this as a reason at a later date.
Good luck with everything.

I say take as much time off allowed especially if it's paid. I don't know how easy it will be for you to look for a job while caring for your baby so really think about it. Were you saving money throughout your pregnancy to prepare for the time off? I don't think you should tell them you won't be returning because you never know, you may not find another job. You can't leave one until you actually have the other,, good luck in finding a new job, hopefully it's a better one.

jgurl is right -- why would you do that?? You don't owe him anything other that "maternity leave". If after the baby comes, you decide not to go back then call and talk to them. Until then - I would not. You are just giving them a reason to replace you and what IF you have to go back.

Just schedule regular maternity leave for approx 12 weeks. That gives you time to look for something else, you can always say you changed your mind, found a better arrangement that was best for your child, etc after the baby is born. Don't burn your bridges just yet, hopefully you will find something quickly and can give them several weeks notice prior to them expecting you back.
Congratulations annd good luck.

just go on maternity leave. never tell them you are thinking of not coming back, in case you don't find a new job and you need to come back.

I learn in a journal that if you do not go back for a minimum of 30 days of labor than the enterprise has the proper to sue you for any "go away" pay that your obtained and potentially clinical protection they paid at the same time you in which out for your go away. As lengthy as you go back for 30 days of labor then by means of regulation you're entitled to the entire advantages you obtained at the same time for your go away. I cannot do not forget which journal I learn that during, both Parents, or Fit Pregnancy, or Pregnancy. Good success and congrats at the upcoming start of your youngster!
