Gator's confidence for one & let's forget about the 51 day stuff. Florida looked so good and had so much energy left over that I believe they could have gone against another team playing another 4 quarters and kicked some @ss. I know there are a lot of you who will agree.

What happened to OSU was Florida. They played their best game of the year. The Buckeyes were flat, and they didn't have a good game plan. They'd have done better to resurrect Woody and his "three yards and a cloud of dust." We're actually used to seeing this happen all season in the SEC, where there are six or eight teams that can beat each other on any given weekend without great shock.

Basically it all came down to the fact that Florida wanted it more and played with attitude. Ohio State was flat and never regrouped.
There were some coaching questions and all of that but it all came down to emotion.
All this crap about the SEC being so much better than the big ten is just that crap. If you look at the bowls the Big ten went 2 and 1 against the sec. Remember Wisconsin over Arkansas and Joe Pa and his Lions over Tennessee? So throw that out. Yesterday Florida wanted it more and Ohio State believed Florida would rollover and quit.
Basically it was 16 seconds to Ohio State and then Florida kicked the crap out of them. They deserved to win

Wow 51 days? That is way too long to go without a game. A team can practice and scrimmage all they want but it still cant keep them as ready as actual game time. This is why i have no respect for the college bowl system and therefore i dont pay any attention for the most part. 99% of the bowl games out there dont even matter from a competitive standpoint. These bowl games happen because everyone (except the players god bless em') just wants to make money off of all the revenue that bowl games generate. NCAA needs a playoff system but first they need to get rid of that moron Myles Brand. I know hes probably making money under the table from this.

Good questions. Why did they lose? Frankly, it looked to me that OSU was out coached -- especially Florida's defensive unit. Florida had all their players on fire for that game. The early kick-off return didn't phase their confidence either. Florida had an excellent game plan and OSU didn't. That tells me that the Florida coaches did a better job with film review and developing strategies to attack perceived weaknesses on offense and defense. Smith never had a chance and OSU's timing was non-existent. Concerning the 51-day delay: yes, that is entirely too long, but it is no excuse. OSU seemed to be overconfident and believed that Florida was no match for their past level of play. I conclude with my own question: will the 51-day delay go away? No, because the bowl system is all about obliging TV viewers and the millions and millions of dollars for the schools and everyone concerned. Money always wins!

I think the Buckeyes went in overconfident as for the 51days they should have practiced more they knew what was on the line with that game the same as Florida did. The only difference Florida went to play and to win like they had something to prove...It was like Ohio wasn't even really trying.

Mental approach to the game. The vast majority of voices in the sports world felt assured and built OSU up as the winner of the title. I think they got caught in that is one part of the equation.
The second part of the equation is that Florida came in as the true "underdog" with something to proove....and they did. That extra motivating factor of doubt is enough to move mere boys to men and champions. Hence the racing speed of the defense and the desire to produce a flawless game plan offensively. It worked.
As a hardcore Buckeye fan, I am crushed. In the same vain, Florida deserved to win that game and the national title. They prepared more effectively and truly showed up with their "A" game.
In response to the 51 days....I agree it should be sped up, but do not see that as the biggest factor. Planning and true grit put Florida over the Buckeyes 41-14. Florida simply wanted it more!
Thats my .2
GO BUCKS!

Simple: HORRIBLE gameplan across the board. OSU was outcoached in the weeks leading up to the game. If anyone was overconfident, it was their coaching staff.
January 8th is way too late for the final bowl game. They should be starting a playoff on the second weekend of December, finishing up in early January. If high school and lower college divisions can play 14, 15 and 16 games per year, these primadonna glory boys can handle it.

Vic,
seems like an honest question.
It's tough watching the team you're routing for lose. Just keep your faith with that team and cheer them on no matter what. They'll be back....they've won 6 already.
I wouldn't blame the 51 days. Simply give credit where it's due. Be candid and congradulatory like many of your OSU brethren. Don't be bashing, a crybaby, whiney-pooh, excuse-making like Karl, vonhugenstein, leesdog.

The first really good team they played all year toasted their azz. Ohio State would be 8-4 in the SEC,at best. Playing in the Big-10 hardly prepares a team to go against the SEC's best.
