Oh Celcila! I'm so sorry to hear that you're having all these problems with other immature girls. School will probably be the most challenging for you right now. They way I see it is that these girls are harming you and you need to stand up for yourself. Until you do or someone for you they will continue to pick on you because they are getting away with it. Please talk to someone that you trust that can help with this. NO ONE should be treated like this especially because of there race. I feel you're pain and sorrow. Knowing that you WILL get through this I'm sure you are a very strong, smart and beautiful person. You will go far in life with a good heart. I have a feeling that when you graduate high school you just might find that you got a lot farther than any of them. Also, it's not where you end up it's how you got there. Alway's remember that that not everyone is like this and there are good people in the world. When you are a good person and have a good heart that's what will find others like you. Good luck, and my heart and prayers are with you.

Your childhood sounds a lot like mine. I wasn't picked on for what race I was, No I was picked on because in the small town I grew up in my last name wasn't the correct last name to have. (basically if you weren't inbred, you didn't belong) Everyone in town was related to one another, except for a few select few. I wasn't a relation, a fact I'm very proud.
But my point is that from kindergarten to 10th grade I was picked on daily. Same as you, the teachers and the school staff weren't helpful. Parents always tell you to ignore it, not to let it get you down. And while that's true, it's not exactly the most helpful bit of information. But that what I did, I ignored them, and became very mistrustful of people, something I still struggle with today. My salvation came in the 10th grade when my family moved halfway across the state. A fresh start was what i needed. Sure it might be considered running away, but I got my life back. Now 7 years later I occasionally run into my tormentors and it amuses me that they think we can be friends now. I haven't forgotten, or forgiven them and I'm not going to. I not as bitter as I once was, but I still can't forgive them. Most now days seem ashamed of their earlier behavior, and that amuses me as well, and I love the looks on their faces when i tell them I have no memory of them, their so insulted its funny.
For your problem it may not be as easy, there will be racists people everywhere, but if you can move or change schools, I suggest that as an option, if you can't then I suggest you skip trying to talk to the teachers, principle, and the supernatant, and go straight the district broad of education, or even the level, u can write or email your mayor, your senator, or your state Representatives, they have the power to come down your school's officials and make change happen. It won't come quickly, or easily, but it will come. But in the meantime do your best to put some distance between u and those girls. And if u can't avoid them then do you best to never let them see how much they hurt u. Any sign of weakness will encourage them. I know it's not easy advice to follow, believe me I KNOW. I dream of a world where stuff like this will never happen again. I think that no matter how long I live I NEVER understand why people can't just accept other people.
I hope things will change for u and soon.

Some kids are mean. Your race is just something they have found they can pick on you about. I'm white and I remember there were some very bad behaved girls when I was going to school that picked on me. So leave the race out of it, if you don't show that it bothers you they'll leave it alone. If they don't, well, ignore them anyway. There will be people your whole life that act ignorant.

I'm sorry you are having troubles but you are going to need to learn to stand up for yourself. Something I had to learn to do as well, as do a good many other people. Perhaps talking with a trusted school counselor you can learn some ways to keep people from picking on you, and maybe even gain a little "mothering" that you are lacking due to your own mothers passing. And I am sorry that happened to you.

So, ask a school counselor to help you or to refer you to someone that can help you. You need some adult guidance and now is as good a time as any to learn as if you don't you could very well find yourself a "victim" all your life.

Good luck to you.

Peace.

...Wow. It's like someone of a different race living my life!

I had these problems in middle school for being WHITE.
The teachers would do nothing.
The dean of students told me he wouldn't punish them and I needed to stay away from them if I didn't want to be jumped/called names/embarassed.

You can go to the REAL police for this. Sexual harassment by them and the boys who are bugging you. Skip school police. They are of no help whatsoever.

I grew up in Anaheim, where almost everyone is Mexican. I loved it there, I got along with everyone and everyone knew and loved my family. Then I moved to Nevada and saw that almost everyone is racist.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I know how you feel, and I so wish you didn't have to suffer like that. See if you can switch schools. These girls won't stop. People who are racist like that are the most ignorant people in the world.

People like them and the people from my middle school are the big reason other people turn racist later in life. I hope you don't see all whites as that stupid and cruel. I'm glad I don't see all hispanics and blacks as that, though in nevada it's hard not to.

If the police won't do anything... I'm not sure what to do. Leave that school for sure. Even if the police do something I'm sure it will get worse.

Some people just love making other people suffer I guess.

=( I'm sorry you and your best friend are suffering for things that NOBODY should hold against you. Good for you for not being racist and for being friends with someone who is gay. I hope you can keep your open mind even though other people don't want you to.

Hopefully when you are in highschool you will meet people who aren't like that.

And remember, you are beautiful! I'm willing to bet almost anything you are, because I have not yet met an ugly hispanic girl. I admit I am jealous of some because I am nowhere near half as pretty, but noone has the right to treat you like that. Keep your head high and remember you are beautiful, and most of us white people AREN'T.

Cecilia, I'm sorry about all this drama in your life. I was also picked on by a couple of nasty witches in junior high although what they did was mild compared to what you're dealing with. They didn't have a reason to do it either and I was already going through a terrible time myself although no one close to me had died.
Some people are extremely messed up and they make themselves feel better by picking on good, but insecure people. It is not your fault this happened and these girls need to pay for their actions. If the school does not help you then it is time to get others involved. I agree with the statement about the lawyer. It is not too drastic because what they did is considered sexual harassment and it's a crime punishable by law. Don't wait until you're so upset by this that you do something you'll come to regret. I'm praying for you and your friend. Good people have to stick together and teach the @ssholes in this world how to act.
God Bless.

I am a white girl and I have never picked on anyone in my life. The girls that are picking on you are messed up in the head and it makes them feel better about themselves to pick on someone. These girls are racists and I blame the parents of those girls for not teaching them right from wrong and for not letting them know that every person on this earth deserves to be treated with respect. Have you talked to your counselor at school about the situation? Maybe he or she can help you find a solution-I really hope so because no one deserves to be treated that way. The teacher should of done much more, at some schools they have a 0 tolerance to violence and most of the time they get suspended. They are bullies! They probably have a terrible home life and they want to make others miserable. Good Luck to you

OK, first thing is to talk to a counselor at school to see if you can bring these girls up on charges. You have a reasonable expectation of privacy (tell the counselor that), even during gym class (that means: you should expect not to be exposed during swim class).

Girls can be mean, particularly if they see an opening. And they won't stop unless you make them stop. If there's a history of this kind of abuse, that will strengthen your case.

Ask your parents if you can switch schools next year. Explain it to them. You shouldn't be expected to tolerate this level of abuse at school year after year. See if you can make a fresh start at a new school, but don't let these girls get away with what they've done. Hold them accountable because it's only going to get worse. And if you leave, they're just going to find somebody else to torment.

I'm so sorry this has happened. Know that it won't continue once you're an adult. But take charge. You can do it!

Take care, good luck, and know that we're pulling for you!

Sweets, You are a beautiful Latina. Be proud of who you are and your culture. Keep your head up high. Those little girls are jealous because you are different and exotic, they probably look like each other, talk like each other, dress like each other, follow each other--- they have no idea how big this world is and all of the beautiful diversity that it makes. Believe me, they will pay. I was teased too when I was your age, I lost my hair when I was your age... Now I look back and think about those people, they have become such losers. I was teaching a Salsa class one night in a popular Chicago club and an old classmate who teased me couldn't believe who I've become, what I look like, what I've done with myself- I laughed at that person- yeah I had the LAST laugh!!! that's right! One day each one of those little b*tches will pay, and someone is going to make them feel so small, make them feel shame. Don't worry honey you keep up and don't let them know that they can get to you (I know it is easier said than done). What I did to come out of my shell and gain confidence: I got so involved in sports, and became such a big part of the teams, people started to look at me more positively.... Your mom is watching down on you and will protect you.

You know you may be so much prettier than those girls that it bothers them,, I am not joking,, no I am not hispanic, or anything I am white, born and raised in Canada, but I can tell you I went through the same thing,, the worst of it is I did not realize that these girls were jealous of me until I was 35 yrs old, I could never understand why girls didnt want to be my friend, why they always stared at me, why they always made fun of me,, but now I know why,,, they didnt want me around their men, didnt want to be put beside me, what they r eally hated was the challenge,, amazing isnt' it?? I was always a tomboy.., never really thought I was pretty at all in any way,,just so plain,, no makeup, no extra's,, you will see as y ou get older what we see as so painfull, looking back we have to laugh at people and their narrow minded views, and jealousies, just be yourself, you are not here to please anyone but yourself, you were not put here to make those other hateful girls gain pleasure from your pain,, and always remember.... what goes around will always come around...
the beautiful girls I went to school with are so overweight and ugly you would never imagine it back in school,,the ones that were so cruel have their just rewards,, now they wonder how the world can be so cruel to them!!!!

The way I see it is you have three choices.

1. Have your father go to the superintendant and DEMAND that something be done.

2. Ignore them.

3. Stand up for yourself and if that means fighting so be it. I don't necessarily condone fighting but in this case it sounds like those girls need a stiff elbow to their mouths.
