I'm a 13 year old boy and I have a female doctor. She's also our family friend. Ever since I had "the talk" with my dad which was this summer, my dad takes me to my physicals, not my mom and he stays in the room. However, I would rather have a male doctor examine me and I feel uncomfortable to just wear my underwear around her. How can I tell my dad that I want to switch to a male doctor and how can I tell him that I would feel more comfortable if he left the room?

I'm sure your dad and your doctor will both understand. Next time your dad brings up that you have to go to the doctor or something, just speak up and say, "Dad, I don't mean it against the doctor or you or anything, but I'd feelmuch more comfortable having a male doctor." Then when it is time for you to go in, just say, "Dad, can I please go in by myself? I'd rather it just be me." I''m sure he'll understand. I had a male doctor until I was eleven, and I asked my mom to leave the room and to get a female doctor. But if your dad doesn't switch doctors, it's okay. She sees guys like you all of the time. Just think of something else other than the exam.

if you just tell the doctor that you would be more comfortable with a male doctor then they would switch. They get questions like that all the time so it's not a big deal to them and it doesn't hurt their feelings. As for your dad, if you'd rather not talk to him about it than just have your mom do it. I don't think it would be that big od a deal to tell your dad yourself. He's not going to mind. He's already had the talk with you so the worst part is over. You can ask him anything now!

Just say it! I had to tell my mom the same thing when I was older. I had a male doctor and really wanted a female because it made me very uncomfortable. The doctor should completely understand, so there should be no hard feelings. As for your parents, just explain it and it should be fine.

Try a little humor. Tell your dad you feel uncomfortable being the only guy in the room in his underwear. Tell him to strip down, too, so you will feel more comfortable in front of the woman doctor.
When he starts thinking about him in his underwear in front of the family friend lady doctor, you might just convince him. Of course, he might like the idea - so watch out.
Just tell him how you feel.

ok, if u think thats bad, listen to this... i have to have a physical 4 camp every year. and i'm a girl. ok well my DAD gave me the talk anf 1 yr. i had to go get the physical, the boy doc wasnt in (thank gawd) so i had to have the woman 1. and she charges a little higher. ok so MY DAD was in the room while i was practically in my underwear, and this was the time she had to ask me the 'personal ?s' like, have u started puberty, which of ur friends have starrted, do u think of sex, ect.. and he was in the corner watching and listening the WHOLE TIME!!!! then when we got out he was all mad and angry cause 'it cost too much' and ' next time we are DEFINATLY getting a boy doc., i dont care if i have to wait a week (generaly, the men doctors are cheaper than the woman)
lol, so next year i will have to walk in my underware in front of 2 men

If you simply tell him he will I am sure be pleased that you did. By the time you get a bit older you will find that doctors are not thinking of you as a sexual being but as a medical case but until then why be uncomfortable.

You should just tell him. He is your father and probably knows what you are going through and will not hesitate. The doctor you have will also understand because she is there to help you and wants you to be comfortable with your doctor.

Tell him, he'll understand. Parents are just people that are older than you, we have had the same worries and fears when we were your age. We haven't forgotten, although some of us may have gotten over the modesty, so just tell him.
Good luck.
Peace.

Just tell him, duh. What else is there to do?
EDIT: Just tell the doctor(or your dad) how you feel and just tell her(or your dad, him) you want to switch to a male. You shouldn't do something that makes you uncomfortable. O.O
