Must be fun, picking up individual ants! Watch out for the red ones, - they bite. But seriously, most garden bugs are ok as feed. Best of all, are nice juicy earthworms. No exoskeleton, just 80% protein. Just don't get your worms from a compost heap, as they may be infected with pathogens.

Here are some safer alternitive foods
Bits of shrimp, crab, salmon
Peas popped out of shells
Brocolli (wash it)
Cucmber
Banana
Orange (out of the skin)
Whole leaf spinach
100% whole wheat bread
Frozen Brine shrimp
Frozen blood worms
Critters from out side can subject your little friends to all kinds of microbes and parasites. Its not a good idea at all. Gold fish don't love them they will eat anything that will fit into their mouths.

Yes, it's what many fish eat in the wild. Most fish will take insects and it's a good tonic food for them, especially beetles - as long as the insects and spiders couldn't have had bug-spray on them. Bug spray will kill a fish.

No. Goldfish can not handle much protein in their diet, it will make them sick. Why are you feeding your goldfish things with vemon? If you want to feed them bugs, buy some frozen or live food.

Your goldfish will love most things he puts in his mouth.
