why do muntain climbers need to carry oxygen to breathe at very high altitudes?

The air at high altitudes has a very low oxygen content

Because the air is thinner up there..less oxygen

air is thinner at higher altitudes. that's why there is no air on the moon. it's WAY up there!!

because as you get to higher points the air gets thinier, at sea level it is thiker

i think there is no oxygen up there or because of you bad smell.!
