it depends on how long u will have the custody of her child and if it is for a long time then im pretty sure u both need go get like a paper that says u will be the temporary guardian

you are looking at the working end of a large lawsuit that has no end. have you considered the legal and financial worries if she does not return? if its a female, are you getting a pig in a poke? if you decide to proceed, make sure you have an out if things get a bitfunny and get it in writing. this is the type of request thats reserved for close family members only and they are terminal. BEWARE.

Call or visit your local Family Court or DFS. You can also go on line to see if there is paper work you can use to get started. They will be able to tell you the right way to go about it.
