They didn't predict anything for 2012. They just got fed up of carving calenders. Do a bit of research next time, eh?

it is not a prediction of the end of the world. In the Mayan culture they had eras of different gods ........ this is just the end of the rein of the last god before the Spanish destroyed their culture. It ends on the Winter Solstice for a reason. Read about it and you will learn the truth.

I don't think they mean the end of the world, it's just the end of the another chapter of the world. It's the end of an age that fit into their culture and the beginning of another. Unfortunately, Spanish invaders and competitive tribes never let them stick around long enough to see the end of that period.
