Not pointless at all
My opinion is having a foreskin is cool and not having a foreskin is also cool. I am just totally against all the anti-circ, mutilation arguments one sees on answers & the web.
Firstly ALL my family have their foreskins though in Australia in the 60's & 70's where i grew up this is uncommon as approx 90% were circumcized. Today the trend is like 10% circumcized & 90% uncircumcized.
Let me say I grew up pretty happy with my foreskin and it wasn't until I was circumcized did I think yes I prefer being circumcized.
I'd got reluctantly circumcised at age 28 due to medical reasons & my girlfriend at the time was also reluctant that I get circumcized as she too had only experienced foreskins & her family too also had their foreskins. So in one way it's what you are used to I suppose coz one could ask a guy and a girl in the States & they'd both be used to circumcized penises.
Firstly I must state I left my son uncircumcized as most 6yr old boys are NOT circumcized in this country anyway. I know from experience that I did get teased once or twice when I was younger when most were circed & I wasn't. I knew another couple of kids who were really teased a lot at both primary & high schools for not being circed but that was back in the 70's & 80's. Today most are not circed so we opted to not circ our child as we didn't want him to look different. It is an important issue contary to what I've read people say on the net & asking why other kids would look or say anything & if they did they'd be sick. Well Kids DO COMMENT. So if my wife & I lived in the U.S, Canada, Israel, The Middle East etc we most certainly would've had our son circumcized. If he decides to want it done or has to have it done due to too many infections we will have no hesitation in getting him circumcized.
The benefits of being circumcized are
No smegma {chessy like substance}
No persistant smell - I used to pull my foreskin right back behind the head & wash with soap, water & special soaps. I used to powder the area & STILL it would smell like only 1/2 an hour or so later. Granted NOT every guy who is NOT circumcized has the smell problem I did.
More intense orgasms
Better head & hand jobs - coz when one is uncircumcized there is moisture on the head making the skin too sensitive when one pulls back the foreskin. I never fully enjoyed both head & hand jobs now I love em.
I can now pee straight without having a foreskin in the way
Now I no pubes inbetween my foreskin - it's one reason I'd playscratch myself.
My ex AFTER my circumcision thought it felt bigger thus enjoying sex more.
My ex started giving me both oral & hand jobs more and told me if she has boys she would get them circumcized.
I USED to get my foreskin caught inbetween my pair of jeans zipper now & then so I haven't had that problem since.
I had sex 5 weeks after being circumcized.
The pain wasn't THAT bad if you're wondering.
Look I put up with a sensitive penis, smell etc etc & enjoyed my foreskin the best I could & didn't realise being circumcized for me was better til after.
I still have all the sensations that I had when I had my foreskin so it didn't/hasn't affected me like that - I laugh when guys who've got their foreskins comment or when girls comment.
I knew a Cancer doctor who told me once he wished every male was circumcized as having a foreskin is OK until one gets old & infirmed & cannot wash. I know some nurses who feel that way too.
So to all the guys who were circed when being born & feel mutilated you're not really missing anything except some of the problems that I had. You're parents were most likely putting yours interests at heart. So get a life and enjoy your circumcized penis.
To the guys who have a foreskin for no problems & say don't have smelly penis, smegma etc or other medical reasons keep your foreskin & enjoy it.
Just thinking it seems most people want what they haven't got - the grass is always greener like uncirc wanting to be circ & circ wanting to be uncirc. Enjoy what you have. Life is too short.
If YOU are reading this or YOUR PARTNER wants to go and get a circumcsion for cosmetic reasons then go & do it - lifes too short.
There have been more advantages than disadvantages for me anyway.

The "purifier" theory spawns fantastically from mistaken care of the penis... by way of father and mom, adults, and young children. father and mom imagine they could pull lower back the floor to sparkling it as little ones, in spite of the undeniable fact that, the foreskin is "glued" to the glans and forced separation will reason tears, redness, and an infection. father and mom (and adults/young children) then overuse cleansing soap because they imagine the area is so grimy it needs more effective cleansing, which no longer in consumer-friendly words creates issues, yet also amplifies any modern topics. cleansing soap eliminates the undesirable AND good micro organism, it really is why there are particular cleaners to eliminate infections (monistat, etc). If someone is conventional with about those misconceptions they are going to evade an excellent type of the topics (which they themselves are growing to be, the foreskin is attempting to do its pastime). the completed "sexual ailment" ingredient is BS, there are in consumer-friendly words conflicting learn. in case you pick to sleep round without utilising a condom, circumcised or no longer, you receives a ailment till you practice chance-free sex. after I requested a question right here if a lady might want to pick to eliminate a number of her labia if it meant an identical advantages as male circ, no one stated sure and some were even offended by way of the idea. This basically shows how a lot own and cultural bias male circumcision has.

It used to have a point.....the main reason behind the creation of this custom was to mark the men of Israel. It was a covenant ( a binding contract with GOD) made between God and Abraham. This way people knew who was a Jew......the people chosen by God!
Throughout history other cultures have adapted this custom for different purposes. In the early 1900's it was adapted in the U.S. to supposedly curb teenage masturbation.......keep in mind, the U.S. was greatly influenced fundamental christian moralists who shunned anything that went against their beliefs. They figured they could control the young boy's urges by snipping the piece of skin that actaully helped masturbation be more enjoyable. We all know that idea never worked.
Then came the HYGIENE issue. The issue that many pro-circumcision militants still use as the main reason for insisting that circumcision should be forced on all infant boys. This issue regarding hygiene does have a strong point, and makes alot of sense........if you live in a desert, or in a jungle where personal hygiene takes second place to survival. Unfortunately, in today's bacteria-awareness society, people are much more aware of what a good personal hygiene practice should be.....and all the issues of cleanliness or the lack thereof has become a non-issue. In the end Soap & Water does the trick.
The lastest issue circumcision proponents are now trying to drive right through the heart of all disease-fearing mothers is the AIDS issue and the STD issue brought on by certain studies regarding uncircumcised men. In this study it was noted that the percentage of uncircumcised men who contracted and passed on Sexually Transmitted Diseases to their partners (particularly AIDS) was higher than that of circumcised men. And let me tell you......The Doo-Doo hit the fan on that one! HAHAHA!
What people won't say is that the study was done in africa, where the percentage of the AIDS disease is the highest per capita in the world. Not being circumcised does not promote AIDS......having unsafe Sex promotes AIDS, and all other Sexually Transmitted Diseases. There is no disease lurking underneath my foreskin......Lord knows I've been checked to make sure.
The truth is that people simply got used to seeing the make penis with the glans (head) completely exposed.....and have taken sides with it because it looks "cuter". And I don't have a problem with that at all. We all have a god given right to have a preference. I would just like for people to call it just that......their preference that a man be circumcised because they find that aspect more attractive. I can respect that, and I applaud it.
In conclusion and in answering your question.......as a health issue, yes.....it is totally pointless.
I am uncircumcised, and have never had any hygiene, disease, or infection issues....Ever!
You decide what you believe is necessary or not necessary....I will respect either way.
Best of Luck!

Circumcision started out as a way to keep the penis clean in the desert centuries ago, when running water and the concept of personal hygiene were non-existent. Gradually, this procedure became incorporated into several religious philosophies, including those of Judaism and Islam (directly in Judaism through the idea of a covenant with God, and indirectly in Islam through the idea of traditional rights of passage, though not stipulated directly in the Koran).
In modern times, circumcision was propagated during the Victorian era as a way to "cure" masturbation, that is to say prevent it (though it obviously was not the most successful...), and gradually gained acceptance in Britain, America, Canada and Australia as a way to keep the penis clean. Several studies also noted that circumcised males had a near-0% chance of contracting penile cancer, whereas uncircumcised males did not (though the chance is still ridiculously small), and attributed this to the hygienic benefit of circumcision.
Several studies conducted in the latter half of the 20th century however, showed that an uncircumcised male who washed under the foreskin the shower every day eliminated the risk of penile cancer as well, and also virtually eliminated the risk of infections of the penis, which promptly ended the idea that circumcision is more hygienic (provided the boy or man washed under the foreskin daily after the foreskin was retractable). As such, the rate of circumcision in the UK, Australia and Canada dramatically dropped. The UK's current rate is roughly <10% of all newborn males, Australia's is roughly <30% and Canada's roughly the same (probably closer to 40%). Noticeably, the NIH in the UK stopped paying for the surgery in all but the most severe cases, as did the national healthcare system in most of Canada's provinces.
Recent studies, whose methods and accuracy must still be verified (though they seem to be correct) show that circumcised males have as much as a 60% less chance of contracting HIV during intercourse. However, this statistic is meaningless, considering any male would have a near-zero chance of contracting HIV had he used a condom. Likewise, other studies show uncircumcised males may be more apt at passing on the human papilloma virus to their female partners. These studies are ongoing, and have yet to be verified.
Circumcision persists in the United States as a largely as a cosmetic procedure. Many parents attempt to use hygiene as a justification of the procedure, however they are contradicted by the American Association of Pediatrician's and American Medical Association's guidelines about circumcision. Most parents who continue to circumcise argue that a son should "look like his father", are unfamiliar with how to care for an uncircumcised penis, or believe they are helping their son in the future when he may be taunted for being uncircumcised. As such, the rate of circumcision in the United States is roughly 60%, with major variations geographically (the west is around 32%, the Northeast around 65%, Midwest around 85% and South around 75%). Interestingly enough, recent studies have shown that as many as 90% of South Korean males have also been circumcised, largely along the same lines, after the procedure was introduced by American soldiers following the Korean War.
Hope that helps.

Basically your right
First is another procedure the Dr and the hospital charge for.
But MY idea is the Drs just love to play with infantile penises.
The others just thrill at cutting and causing pain.
One of the first emotional experiences the infant gets it his penis has a huge butchering that leaves an ugly scar and is sore for days.
Check carefully it is only a fashion statement.
Any problem you hear of is lack of instruction and proper hygiene.
You know God put it there, so do you think God would cut it off??
Who do you think would God have choosen to cut him?
Man has had a foreskin for millions of years why now cut it off?

Pointless, cruel, and utterly barbaric. The only current reason to have it done is for men in sub-Saharan Africa, where HIV/AIDS is pandemic and condoms are not used. In that limited circumstance, circumcision cut the rate of HIV transmission from horrific to very, very bad. Just using a condom would cut it to near zero!
It does NOT stop masturbation. The vast majority of uncut men have absolutely no difficulty with smell, smegma, and other largely-imaginary "problems." And sexual sensation can be much less, for both men and their partners, after they are cut. For a first-hand account, go to http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsLZw.JoXOzsnm793sS7Ixzsy6IX?qid=20070101193846AA385UM&show=7#profile-info-fb8a1b49d382006d635917de9dc08b3baa
Infant genital mutilation should be considered child abuse and outlawed. Many Jews are now refusing to allow their sons to be ritually cut. (Good for them!)

There is no point; it is an archaic, barbaric act left over from cave man days and the religious nuts adopted it so they could tell themselves apart from those not in their religion--though I am not sure why they would be looking at other guys' members! The hygiene thing is a whole lot of bull; over 2 BILLION men in the world are UNCIRCUMCISED, only a few hundred million are actually cut. Those who advocate for it are usually of course already cut.

it is not pointless. men who have foreskin, uncircumsied, are more like to get infections, and it is also a religious act for some groups. Plus it makes the penis look like it has a cute little hat! just kidding about the last, but the first part is true

It started out as a religious thing. Doctors continue to do it because it reduces the chance of infection, and for hygiene reasons as well. Uncircumcised guys have to take extra care and make sure it's squeaky clean under the hood.
