Yes.

Jews, Christians, and Muslims all worship the God of Abraham. They just have different opinions on how to worship Him (or Her).

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states, "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."

"It is my ardent hope that Muslim and Christian religious leaders and teachers will present our two great religious communities as communities in respectful dialogue, never more as communities in conflict."
-- Pope John Paul II, Meeting with Muslim Leaders in Omayyad Great Mosque, Damascus, May 6, 2001.

According to the following eyewitness, the Pope kissed the Koran as a sign that he has also great respect for Islam and that he was aware of the suffering of the Iraqi people.

The Chaldean Patriarch of Iraq, Raphael I Bidawid is the spiritual guide of the majority of Iraq's one million Christians -- who still celebrate their liturgy in Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus.

Raphael I Bidawid, Patriarch of the Chaldeans told in an interview:

“On May 14th I was received by the Pope, together with a delegation composed of the Shiite imam of Khadum mosque and the Sunni President of the council of administration of the Iraqi Islamic Bank. At the end of the audience the Pope bowed to the Muslim holy book the Koran presented to him by the delegation and he kissed it as a sign of respect. The photo of that gesture has been shown repeatedly on Iraqi television and it demonstrates that the Pope is not only aware of the suffering of the Iraqi people, he has also great respect for Islam.”

With love in Christ.

Yes... i saw the photo of the Catholic Pope(John Paul II) kissing the Islamic Quran. For whatever reason that he did that act or for whatever cultural ettiquette he did it, i do not know. Personally, i do not agree about it and i do not think that it is right. I just cannot imagine Jesus or Peter doing that if they were alive. Seeing the suffering of the Iraqi people, they might cry, they might grieve, they might pray for the sick, they might even stand up and proclaim the good news, but definitely not kiss the quran.

As for muslims and the catholics worshipping the same God, assuming that the catholics do worship the God of the bible. I would say that on the surface, it looks like a misunderstanding but if we were to study and look into it more, there are vast differences. The Apostles gave us a stern warning that if anybody brings a different Gospel, do not recieve them.

If you are looking for your friend, John and he has a son. Then someone tells you that there is a John over there and you asked does this John have a son?The person replied,"no". Would that then be the same John who is your friend? Definately no, One has a son and one don't.

Muslims do not believe that God has a son. They do not believe that Jesus died and rose again. Therefore, no, they do not worship the same God as the Catholics assuming that the Catholics worship the God of the bible.

Hope this helps

Yes. But they call Him a different name which is obviously due to the different language. As far as the heretic part goes. A heretic is someone who challenges orthodox beliefs. I don't think a true religious heretic would spend much time praying. And lastly, I think you have it all wrong. Paganism is a completely different religion in which the pagan's worship the feminine aspects of our being as well as several different gods all with special purposes. I don't really think you have a point In asking a question about wether or not Muslims and Christian's worship the same God and then adding paganism into the whole idea.

I don't think any one here who answered you have a clue of what you are talking about. I heard the Pope say that Catholics and Muslims worship the same God. I was stunned that there wasn't more huppulah over that. I personally was stunned over the statment.

Good strong Christians & Cathloics would disagree that Muslims worship the same God. And I assume Musilms wouldn't say we all worship the same God.

I personally most of my life would firmly stand on the belief that Christians of all kinds have the only true God.. Then I struggled
with those people who didn't hear about "God". I now believe that the belief in the Creator is inate to humans and that Creator does not care what He is called or how He is worshiped.
Thats just my personal believ. Only God's knows. And I will leave it up to Him.

So, Jews worship the God in the Old Testament. Muslims and Christians broke away and created the Koran and New Testament. All still believe in the Old Testament God, so doesn't that mean that it's the same God?

Has it ever occurred to you that Catholics, Muslims, Buddhists, Islamics, Baptists, Adventists, Pagans, etc. all worship the same God based on their individual societal structures?

I am answering this question as Muslim

Catholics and Muslims worship the same God (Allah means God in arabic). The main difference I can see is that Muslims worship God directly with no intermediary, whereas Catholics are tought they need to go through their Priest, then the Pope, then Jesus, then God (Father).

Muslims believe in Jesus as Messiah, his miracles, his return, just not his actual death on the cross. Muslims believe an illusion was cast on the cross by God to deceive Jesus' enemies into thinking they killed him, hence his return one day to prove them wrong. When he returns he will unite the real Muslims and real Christians against the enemies of God. Hope this is helpful.

p.s. Please note that much of the Bible (Old Testament) applies only to Jews (ask your priest if you don't believe me). Jesus started a New Testament that is more friendly and gets back to basics (love thy neighbor, don't judge others, etc) much of which is mentioned in the Quran.

Christians, Muslims and Jews all worship the same God, but have different beliefs and histories that they accept in their worship. To say that they didn't worship the same God would be the same as saying that Protestants and Catholics didn't worship the same God. They all worship the same entity, but they worship differently. The Jews call him Jehovah, and the Muslims call him Allah, and the Christians don't even have an original name for him and just call him "God." All of these religions and their varying sects, however, grew from the same seed, and a belief in a single Almighty.

Also the recitation of the Qu'ran was from the angel Jibril/Gabriel. The same Gabriel in the New Testament.

Muslims, Jews and All Christian faiths believe in the one true God and the Old Testament was "The Book" for all three. The separation of beliefs come in who is the "Prophet" or "Son of God".

Obviously, Christians believe it is Jesus Christ, Muslims believe it is Mohammed and the Jews choose "None of the above".

Kind of ironic when you think about it.
