I posted earlier about the nasty smell in my house, im pretty sure it is the dishwasher soap. i was wondering if other pregnant people could smell thier dishwasher soap and tell me if it stinks or not and what kind/brand is it? mine is the dollar store variety. at least i almost got it narrowed down. i smelt right out of the box and pee you!!!!!!!

YES!! Mine stink too!!! I have changed brands numerous times, and it still smells bad... Right now we have fresh scent Cascade 2 n 1 but they stink too. Before that we used Electrsol Orange gel pacs.. They smelled alright for a while, but now they just stink also... I haven't really found anything that don't so I am interested to see if anyone has some that smell good!!! I will be trying those too, you can bet on it!!!!

I can't stand the smell of any dishwasher soap - the chlorine and perfumes drive me nuts. I use soap from the health food store ( I know, it is overpriced), but once I tasted my children's sippy cups washed with Cascade and found the smell and taste of detergent still hanging around, I switched to natural detergent (no perfumes, etc).
I recently found a great alternative to the pricey brands at health food stores - its called Soapworks, and it has no chlorine and perfumes, and it is a great price. Check it out - highly recommended!

Different things can set you off. It could very well be the dish washing soap that's totally bothering you. Every pregnant woman has a different reaction to different scents, while others don't have a reaction at all. When my best friend was pregnant with her first child, she said that she couldn't stand the smell of donuts, which she usually likes. The smell made her soooo sick! Your sense of smell is heightened.

When you're pregnant, you can have an overdeveloped sense of smell temporarily. I think it's pretty cool, but that only happens to me when I'm nauseous.
You can make your own dishwasher detergent very cheaply and by using natural ingredients, you will know that it's safe to breathe. Here's a link to a recipie that shouldn't stink:

When i was first pregnant I could smell an EMPTY cup of coffee from across the room, and it would make me sick.
Iam sure if that dishwasher soap has any smell and it triggers your sickness, you WILL smell it. lol.
