business management bad because it might equate with the Third Reich?

A Professor at Edinburgh University thinks school uniforms are reminicent of the Hitler Youth so she wants to abolish them. Once we start to go down that line of reasoning, where will it end up?

Superior1 - oh, for more answers like yours! But my subtle clue might have evaded you - "Edinburgh" - as in "Scotland"? I've got "UK & Ireland" on my Yahoo! site here. Don't know what's on yours, but nice to hear from our cousins anyway. And commiserations on the politically correct madness that's gripping the US. We've got it here, too. Scotland is first in the UK to ban all smoking in public places, England follows soon. If only they'd tackled alcoholism with half as much fervour! But the PC Brigade go for a soft target, get off with it, then go for more serious issues. Ah well, democracies only get the government they deserve.

On uniforms there are distinct advantages (like saving parents a fortune buying designer gear, and less bullying for kids without expensive items, and pride in appearance and the school etc) but trying to use a negative historical episode to persuade people (whatever way) is a cheap trick. Just how stupid do they think we are?

The best answer that I could give would be... Government programs never die, they are just added on i.e.: First taxes were limited to support elected leaders and the military everything else was donated, now we have welfare and any other program FDR created, as well as ridiculous salaries for our "volunteer" elected officials, the military was to protect the US, what has the military spent the majority of the past 50+ years doing?. Smoking was commonly accepted, if you didn't like it, you avoided it, first started with public places and now around public places, how soon before you can't smoke in your own home?; citizens were free to purchase/use anything that didn't cause harm to anyone else, now we have warning, caution and be advised warnings on damn near everything (coffee's hot, if you spill it on yourself you will get burned...REALLY?); majority vote ruled, now we elect 2-3 people to vote for millions; People could get jobs based off of who they knew and their qualifications, now people get hired based off of the color of their skin; elaborating on my last point, the US was founded and "all men were created equal", then some "equal" people became slaves, then some "equal" people could only use certain stores, restaurants, water fountains, bathrooms, and bus seats, then some "equal" people suddenly became more qualified for a job because these past events took place. I could write a book (and I just may) on how numerous countries and their politics have dramatically changed. Some even a few years. Germany was not always Hitler's country, but for most that is how it will be remembered. There is a good reason a lot of people compare school uniforms with Nazi Germany, past examples of how the US has dealt with problems. A solution normally starts multiple problems and it continues until, eventually it spirals out of control and everyone wonders how this happens so fast. One last example, there are many people on welfare (a lot use it for the purpose it was implemented) welfare sounds great, I can stay at home and play on the computer, watch any program on TV I want, and get paid for it?? Look in Walmart lines. How many people have you seen paying cash for a bunch of liquor and food stamps for the rest of their groceries? Sorry if this is hard to read but I'm tired and going to bed, just wanted to get this off.
