I really am interested in becoming a college professor. Do you have to work other places first and for how long. I am really young, but i just am thinking about my future...Thanks for the help!

Get good grades in high school and do lots of extracurriculars. Study for and take your ACT and/or SAT. Research some colleges that interest you and apply. Once you're in, don't drink too much or do too many drugs (there is a happy medium). Pick a major, if it changes, hey it happens to most. Work with a professor to get some research or other related experience to your field. Study for and take you GRE. Start applying to graduate schools. Skip a few steps..... Get your PhD then start on your postdoc work, and with any luck an acreditted institution will hire you, then a few years later you can get tenure and ride off into the sunset

Depends on the college. Some colleges do require some sort of outside work while other require research. I think a lot of it depends on the field of interest and the college of choice. Community colleges and junior colleges often do not require as much as universities.

No, you don't have to work anywhere else first. I had a first-time professor fresh out of grad school. You just need to get yourself a Master's first. Good luck!
