The folder doesn't sit on the desktop. The window pops up each time the computer starts up.

Sounds to me like you (as another stated) installed a program that is doing this to your system.

http://www.trendmicro.com/spyware-scan/ for spyware.

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ for virus scan.

The 1st online scan should cover you if you installed any junk software.
If nothing odd comes up.
Start > Run type in msconfig far right tab will be Startup. Go down the list of each of those items and if you question it.. Look under the COMMAND column and look at the last word in each line or only thing listed for each row.

Example -
CTSysVol under STARTUP ITEM column

"C:\Program Files\Creative\SbAudigy2\SurroundMixer\CTSysVol.exe" under COMMAND column

I would do a google search on either CTSysVol, or CTSysVol.exe

I use a program called CodeStuffStarter which let's me see what the startup has listed, do a google search on each one, edit, or delete each entry if I do not want it to start up. I highly recommend it.

Now theres a question, for a serious answer people will need to know your machine and operating system, when and how it appeared in the first place etc etc
If its a pc then right click on it and you should get an options menu which will enable you to rename move or delete it, amongst other things (provided it is not a necessary system file). You must have Help of some sort on your machine suggest you go there first - tread carefully though, messing with the setu-up is a dangerous game especially if you don't know anything about it!

My laptop just started doing that after I installed some anti-spy software. It drives me nuts! So much so I'm going to take it to a shop and get it fixed if you don't get the answer. Thanks for asking!
