Good lord! First of all, you have way too many fish in a 10 gallon tank. The general rule is one inch of fish for every gallon of tank. Your fish will outgrow the tank, fight, eat each other, suffer from poor water quality, and generally be unhappy pissed off fish. Secondly, Oscars eat goldfish, Betas, and snails, and will kill some Cichlids. If you go with cichlids at all make the tank exclusively cichlids. There are enough variety of them so your won't get bored with the setup. You wouldn't be able to get away with putting one Oscar in a 10 gallon tank, ever, unless you want it to die or jump out during feeding. I suggest putting a few goldfish in the tank to start with, and, after a little more education on fish care, maybe move up to a 20 gallon and purchase some cichlids. They are beautiful, clean fish and easy to take care of. Buy a Penguin filter, as they are easy to maintain and change.

That is way too many fish for such a small tank. Whatever filtration you use they will die.
The fish are totally unsuited to living together. Goldfish are cold water fish, the others are tropical. Ciclids can be very agressive and the betta's fins will not survive long....and how come you are only just asking about filtration now? Did you cycle the tank even?
You need to get it sorted out. You should only have approx 1 inch of (full grown) fish per gallon of water. An Oscar alone can grow almost to that depending on the type.
Get an external filter and find homes for the fish and start again...do your research BEFORE you put fish in next time!;

looks like you need some serous help,luckily I came just in time first of all Oscars will die very soon in a ten gallon tank because they are way to big and will eat the snails if they get a chance. second goldfish grow to be 1 foot the biggest goldfish I have seen is a whopping 2 FEET!besides they like very very very cool water so they shouldn't be kept with tropical fish.Then there is the issue of the Beta they will eather kill all the other fish or eat them including the Oscars.I think that the cichlids are okey besides over crowdation and the fact that the Beta will get rid of them !!!!!and the snails are good as done for!

That is way too many fish in a ten gallon. Oscars can NOT be kept in a ten gallon. They get very large. If you keep them in the ten gallon then willd die. Cichlids should not be kept in a ten gallon. They are very territorial and need space to claim and hide. If you keep them in a ten gallon you will have aggression problems and they may all die. Goldfish should be kept with goldfish. They are extremely dirty fish, and will cause problems for other fish in the tank. My suggestion to you would be to keep the goldfish, betta, and snails in the ten gallon if you have to. I would recommend a whisper hanging filter for up to 35 gallons to take care of the goldfish mess. You need at least a 55 gallon for the others. They will also need a little extra filtration because oscars tend to be messy eaters. If you keep them all in the ten gallon you will be sorry within a few months. Most likely the oscars will grow, eat your other fish, and leave you with a few fish that will still need a bigger tank. That is if you don't murder them first, with the fact that they are in a tank that is way way way too small.

Your oscar and cichlids are going to eat your goldfish, beta, and snails. Depending on the types of cichlids you got, oscars and cichlids should be separate because they'll eventually fight each other off too. If you have a ten gallon tank, you will not need a large filter. But beware because oscar's tend to grow...our last oscar grew to the size of a dinner plate and we had him in a 30 gallon tank.

You are joking right?
Oscars gor to 14-16 inches long
Cichlids means nothing, there are thousands of different kinds of cichlids
A betta will be fine, with itself or a small schooling fish or something.
Snails should be fine, oscars will eat them
Goldfish grow anywhere from 6 inches to 1 foot depending on what kind you have. Way too big for a 10 gallon tank. They are coldwater anyway and should not go with tropical fish
Dude, you need some serious help. Go to my forum and it will be much easier for me to help you get your tank so it is not a 10 gallon toture chamber.

not between the above. at the same time as the Betta could very final with the Lab for a at the same time as, this is in simple terms a topic remember of time formerly than it famous it in its territory and rapidly shreds it. Goldfish are coldwater fish, on the comparable time Bettas are tropical fish-- their temperature desires are totall off. instead of shifting it into one among your cutting-edge tanks, bear in mind protecting it interior the a million/2 gallon tank for a on the comparable time (different than which you have the means to get a 2.5+ gallon tank) and in simple terms protecting up on the maintenance (day by day water variations). this is often far fit than attempting to combine it with a Yellow Lab or Goldfish. EDIT: Bettas, same to Gouramis, are completely superb in huge tanks. I had my Betta in a fifty 5 gallon tank and he replaced into extra lively than he ever was formerly (in a 2.5 gallon tank). as long simply by fact the tank has decorations that it could entertainment on (vegetation, rocks, wood), there is not something incorrect with protecting Bettas or another fish with labyrinth organs in an incredible tank. EDIT 2: honest adequate, Jon. I wouldn't have too lots journey with African Cichlids, so i does not be a stable come to a determination of the way it is going to react... in simple terms basing it off of South American dwarves, which look to act fairly equivalent (fairly then aggression). the only undertaking i could do would desire to you do look after the electrical powered Yellow with the Betta, grant a sort of tall vegetation or decorations (for the Betta to take a seat back on). In important tanks, Bettas get drained better immediately and could want places to entertainment (fairly than the substrate, as that's the place the Lab would desire to be maximum aggressive).

For starters, thats WAY TOO MANY fish in one tank. They will slowly suffocate if you do not get a bigger tank regardless of filtration. Plus, your Beta won't last with those other fish - it'll be eaten - thats why they always sell them seperate, not mixed in with others.

Foe one you are mixing way to many different kinds of fish and the ocars are going to out grow that tank in no time!! It is a myth that they will only grow as big as the tank allows. I would do some more research and get a bigger tank

Whatever you use won't be enough to keep all of those fish alive together in a 10 gallon. Sorry! Look into buying another tank.
