My laptop has been off for 5 days now. I tried holding the pwer button down for 7+ seconds, I tried taking the battery out and putting it back, I tried to turn it on without the battery, none of these have worked. This happened before, but one of those options worked, and it's never been this long. Some have said it over heated, something's wrong with the hard drive, and possibly the fan. I took it to Best Buy to get it fixed the last time it did this, but all they ended up doing was erasing everything from my computer, and the problem still consisted. What else could be the problem? And how can I possibly fix it? I really need my laptop for school.

When this happen to me I was really scared. But it turned out to be a worn out power cord and dead battery. Once replaced everything was fine.

Hope it's the same for you.

Something may be wrong with the power circuit in your laptop. It's not charging. The battery is most likely fine, it just ran out of juice. And since the power circuit isn't working right, the battery won't charge back up. Your hard drive is also not to blame. Unfortunately, there may not be much you can do besides bring it somewhere for repair, but let me advise you not to bring it back to Best Buy. If they wiped your drive because it wouldn't turn on, they're a bunch of idiots.

One thing you can take a look at yourself is the power supply. Sometimes they just go bad. When you have it plugged in for a few minutes, does the power supply get warm? (it should) Does it have an LED on it to indicate it's getting power? If so, is that lit? If you answered no, then you may just need a new power supply. Check to make sure that the plugs on the power cables are all snug too, and that the wire isn't damaged anywhere.

(FYI, just in case you're not sure, the power supply is the box in between the wall outlet and your laptop, in the middle of the power cord :-)

PS: Alternatively, something COULD have overheated, causing this same issue. It's impossible to know for sure. But since you said this happened once before and was fixed, I would lean more towards the power circuit.

you must test output voltage from the charger if it is OK the power connecting point on your laptop may be damaged and that`s why your battery discharged you must replace the mother board
