Not sure I know that at 1 time you could get a co- ownership only think that was more with housing associations even some housing associations and councils have changed there rules on right to buy it varies all over the country you would need to get in contact with what council in your area and see what there rules on this are

I'm not sure about councils, but there are housing associations that do part ownership. You then pay rent on the other part and get the option to buy it outright later. There may be some councils running a similar scheme, you'd have to check with the particular council area you wanted to buy in.

With shared ownership you buy half of the property and lease half of the property. You do not share the property with another occupier. You also have an option to buy the other half when you are in a position to do so.

If you are a key worker (teacher, nurse etc) you can buy half a property. Contact your local housing association.
