I think I'm glad I'm not the Mom in this question....
I think at 14 she is plenty old enough to change her hair color... hopefully she won't get carried away and want to color it over and over again... it's very hard on one's hair..
But, then you have another side to this coin...
MOM... Mom will win, because she is the mom and doing what she feels is right for her daughter right now.
I'm guessing your mom is about 35 right? Her generation wasn't interested in coloring their hair at 14, they had other things on their mind, what I do not know, but it wasn't hair color or lip piercing.
Good Luck

Maybe mom will allow non-permanent hair colour or maybe she could use a wig.
This problem can turn into a battle of wills with mom getting used to the idea of saying no and sis wanting to do her own thing. Try to find a compromise that works for both of them.
Apart from anything, once you start dying hair it looks bad when it starts growing out and needs to be done again. It's one of those cycles which is hard to stop when you start and everybody agrees that any permanent dye damages hair and the more it is used the more damage occurs.

Since when should there be an age from when you can dye your hair? I'm 15, and have my hair dyed green and gold as patriotism! Although, your mum sort of does have the upper hand in these sorts of things...she decides the rules I guess...I just don't understand why people don't let their kids dye their hair! It's only hair, get over it!

Sorry kiddo but Mom's the word (literally!) I know it sucks, but one day, you can be a mom and then you can make the rules.
Personally, I let my son dye his hair for halloween when he was in grade 3. He thought I was a cool mom.
Do I agree with your mom? Nope. Not at all. I think hair shouldn't be such a big deal, and kids should be allowed to express themselves through their hairstyle (as long as it's kept clean and free of lice, I don't care what it looks like).
Your mom should really learn to pick her battles, as hair shouldn't be such a big deal. However, she's the Mom, she makes the rules (and probably the dinners and the beds, too). While you live there, you live under her rules. (Even if they do REALLY seriously bite!)

i say no because 14...well i think she should dye her hair when she's about 16 and up.may be everyone in school is doing that so it makes her want 2 do that.u know children like that do want 2 follow the crowd.so follow your mother and tell her to dye her hair when she's 16.if yall mother still don't want her 2 dye her hair maybe that color looks good on her,or maybe somethings wrong with her(your mother).

Im an 18 year old girl and ive been dying my hair since i was 9. And ive had at least 3 hairdressers claim that i have the healthiest/nicest hair they have ever seen. dying doesnt damage at all.. unless you are using bleach to lighten hair. When i was 13, i cut it off so that it was only a few inches and dyed it hot pink. remind your mum that there are much worse hairstyles for your sister to have. hahah. or, get your sister to explain and ju7stify why she wants the haircolour. Ive always hated my natural colour, which i why ive always dyed it, and i dont think that will ever change. perhaps the same goes for your sis?

I think your Mom is right. And since Mom has to make the call, any way, because she's responsible for her health and well-being, why not just wait a little bit. Honestly, there's an awful lot of years where you HAVE to color your hair (if you go grey early like I did), so why mess with it if you don't have to.

Yeah i think she is old enough.
When i was 13 i put different color streaks in my hair, like purple and red...I didn't ask for permission though, My mom was a little mad about that but no biggie.
It's best to get the kind that fades after about a months though, It gets boring fast and you might not like it.
