I am looking at the style

emo/punk/alternative/pop

like Fall out boy style or Panic! At the disco style. I'm lead..which would be good for a beginner and be easiest to play/sing at the same time?

Bass is a lot easier if you only play rhythm stuff. Guitar, you have to play chords, which some people find hard (especially those with small hands). Yeah, I'd say bass, very easy, just hit the E string and keep going and sing, hehe.

I think they're both about the same. Some people will say that Bass guitar is easier because you only have to hit one string at a time. Others say that rhythm guitar is easier because you just make a chord and strum away at it. The truth is that each one is only as difficult as you make it. For example, I play bass in a band. If I wanted to, I could just play one note over and over again, until the chord change, then play the next note over and over again. Or, If I feel like being tricky, I can play a whole scale for each chord the guitarist plays. That's the beauty of music. It only is as difficult as you make it.

I would recommend anyone start on guitar. You can always switch to a bass later, if you don't like it. But going from a bass to a guitar would be harder.

If youre a beginner, playing lead guitar is going to be very difficult to do while singing......even playing rhythm while singing will be hard........your best bet is to sing and play basic rhythm, and have a good lead guitarist that can hold his own, and have a talented bass player that can provide some "fill" into the rhythm.

If you are playing guitar and singing, you will be playing rhythm. That would be easier than singing and having to think about and play bass lines. It might depend on the style of music, but overall, I'd say playing rhythm and singing would be easier.

Bass is somewhat easier to play, usually slower notes and usually single notes, but a guitar is better accompaniment for a voice, in my opinion. If the instrument playing is rather simple in nature, it's pretty easy to sing along. More complicated stuff makes it more difficult, but practice makes proficient.

I like the bass. It keeps the rhythm going and adds a little pizazz. Guitars just go off all over the place.
