It really depends on the individual. I have been care for by both male and female physicians and, as a nurse, I have worked side by side with them. It's all a matter of the individual gifts, talents, knowledge, understanding each person has. You can't make a blanket statement that one gender is better than the other. There's not a shred of proof that this is even remotely correct.

In the past dozen years I've had two male doctors and three female doctors. All were fine, and I didn't stop going to any of then by choice - one retired and the others left the area. My current doctor is a woman, and my husband goes to her as well. He was reluctant at first to go to a woman doctor, but he is completely comfortable with her now, as she is very professional and doesn't do anything differently than a male doctor would. My favorite of the whole lot was a woman, but she moved when her husband took a job in another state. I guess my second favorite was a male doctor who retired. It's an individual thing, not a gender thing. You somehow have better chemisry with some doctors than others.

What a terribly sexist question!!!
It makes no difference. Gender has nothing to do with it. May people make the mistake of assuming that a female doctor would automatically be more caring and empathetic, but there are many "hard-hearted" and cold females and many very caring males.
I personally prefer a male doctor because I think that most female doctors only practice "part time". I want to know that he will be there for me when I need him.

I find that male doctors are better in the sense that they are very knowledgeable in the opposite sex. For instance, I have found more interest in male OB doctors as I get more info out of them and they seem to be more helpful. Though I sometimes feel uncomfortable with a male examining me down there other than my husband. But it is worth it. I actually feel much more uncomfortable with a female doctor and have not been given the best care. I think men take pride in themselves and their job when they choose the medical field. Do not get me wrong, there are plenty women that are serious and take pride in their work.

A woman doctor is better. Trust me they have a more maternal instinct for their patients, and have a better disposition to the vocation than men. And on the whole? They look a hell of a lot better than men. They also have a better touch during physicals. I'm not speaking eroticism here... I mean that they actually have a better feeel, touch and manner about themselves than most male doctors do.
And the male doctors who do have a good manner about them? Well women are more naturally inclined this way then men are.
