okay, i'm really undecided about wether or not breastfeeding my baby. there are ups and there are downs. breastfeeding didn't work with my first baby, and i don't know what i want to do with the second one. should i try it first in the hospital and if it don't work, just go to bottle? i know the benefits and downs of breastfeeding. and one other thing too that made it hard the first time is that i have an inverted nipple....

I think if more people knew what was in formula they would throw it out like the garbage that it is. But unfortunately the formula companies have a lot of money to advertise their product and get moms to buy it. Do some research on the topic and you will find that formula is at best deficient and at worst down right dangerous to feed to children. Every time they add a new ingredient it is less of an improvement and more like a "whoops we were killing kids here! better add this or that". Did you know that annually in the United States alone 9,000 babies die because they weren't breastfed? Worldwide that number is 1.5 million. I would hate to be one of the unlucky ones.... A little support can go a LONG way in making breastfeeding work. Get in touch with the La Leche League or check out some of the breastfeeding groups here on Yahoo!.

It is really up to you and what you feel comfortable with. Any amount of breastmilk, 1 days to 1 year, is better than none. I breastfed my first 2 for about 3 months each time - until I went back to work. With my third, I have pumped since the beginning since he was very sick and I couldn't hold him until he was over a week old. He is 5 months now and I have to supplement with formula but he is still getting some breastmilk. If you have the support for people around you, it should be easier the second time around. Good luck!

It would be great if you tried. My wife had trouble with our first, but our second she didn't have problems with. I would say if you try, give it at least a week to see if you can get it to work. A few days isn't even long enough for your milk to have come in for the most part. And for the inverted nipples, check into breast shields. Those can help.

It doesn't hurt to try it. You don't want to not try and then regret it later. You have a great idea. Give it a shot at the hospital. There you have the nurses to help you out. If it does not work out than you can always switch to the bottle.

Breast milk is best, but I formula fed from day one. It can be very hard to ween children from the breast. One friend even has a baby who is nearly 9 months old and refuses to try any solid food because all he wants is breastmilk. The decision is really up to you.
