I am left-handed and i'm the only in my family who is. I want to find out if somehow it is genetic. I've always been wondering what the advantages are besides being unique. Thank you for reading my question.

It is genetic, it can come from previous generations. My mother and father are both right-handed but I am not. Also it was customary to switch a left-handed child to being right handed because of superstition. Maybe someone in your family was left handed and was switched as a child. I have found that left handed people are more artsy and creative than right handed people.

It can be genetic, but so can just about everything else. It's more of an instinct kind of thing. There is evidence that most left handed people are smarter, however, it may sometimes also be true that their life spans are shorter. A lot of left handers are also artistically inclined (whether it be drawing, music, etc.).
