There is no existing 1 gigabite nano. The smallest gigbites you can get on a nano is 4. The only i-pod which holds 1 gigabite is the shuffle (which I reccomend you do not purchase.) But according to Apple Company and my knowledge one gigabite can hold around 250 songs, but most I-pods allow you to have 5-20 more so anywhere from 250-270 songs.
