Unless you can't use it, don't try to clean it. Besides, you should have been more careful. If it's scratched badly, then you won't be able to get rid of the scratches.

Without buying a disk cleaner I don't think you can fix scratches on a disk. Game Dr. is an awesome product that is not too expensive that works miracles. I would suggest getting one as soon as you are able. I got one a few years back and it's been worth more than it's weight in gold. You would not believe all the disks I've been able to save. It's expecially handy when you buy used disks that you bring home to find scratches on them.

As far as just cleaning a disk though, the best thing to use are alcohol swabs, you can find them in the diabetic section of the Walmart pharmacy. You get a box of like 100 for only a few bucks. A little alcohol on a Q-tip will work until then though.

I wish there were a quick fix to fixing scratches, but without the Game Dr. I wouldn't know where to begin.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Those remedies like toothpaste or mayonnaise are jokes. You can't clean off scratches. Scratches are permanent on a disk. Windex will clean the disk but the only way to do away with scratches is to buy a new disk and throw the old one away.
