I would suggest you get some books on breastfeeding. When you breastfeed, your child is drinking what you drink. What To Expect When You're Expecting is a good one.
Cutting your hair is fine. People often warn against it just because pregnant women can be emotional and make bad decisions. But it won't hurt the baby.
Hair dye is fine. Some people are concerned about it during the first trimester but I've never heard of anyone having any problems because of it. Tell your hairdresser you are pregnant so they can check the labels and make sure nothing has any warnings against being used by pregnant women.
When in doubt, ask your doctor.

Yes!!! You can!!! Please don't use so many exclamation marks. There is absolutely no reason why cutting your hair will harm the baby. Think, honey. It's just dead follicles that you're cutting off and no one's health has been compromised simply by snipping off dead hair.
As for the dying, no it won't hurt you. Some people say you shouldn't because you might have an allergic reaction, but if you're using a dye that you're familiar with then it should be ok. You might want to talk to a hairdresser or, better yet, your doctor.
As for drinking while breastfeeding...it's probably not a good idea to immediately feed the baby after you've just had a few drinks.. Remember that anything you put into your body is excreted in breast milk, and that includes alcohol. That's why it's not safe to take certain medications while breastfeeding because they will be passed on to the child. It's better wait a few hours until your body has metabolized that alcohol before feeding. You can always pump milk before hand and freeze it you're worried that the baby will get hungry while you're knocking back the booze.

Dying your hair can be harmful to the baby if you do not do it in a well ventalated area, you should try to inhale as little of the chemicals as possible. Also the hormones in your body can cause the color to not come out right or at all.
When you breast feed anything that you eat or drink ends up in your breast milk. So drinking or smoking or doing drugs will have the same effect as if you were doing this during pregnancy. Breast milk is the best for your baby so I would suggest that you refrain from doing any of this during the time that you are breast feeding.
It would be best though for you to not do it at all, since you will be a mother and you need to be a good role model.

Hi. First of all, congrats. Second, take a minute to breath. A simple test is this...would you do it with a baby in your arms? and would you feed it to a baby? If the answer is no, check with your doctor. And get a copy of a book called "What To Expect When You Are Expecting. There is a wealth of information to be had there. To answer your specific questions, you absolutely can cut your hair...dying is not recommended as there have been no conclusive studies done. You should not drink two hours before breastfeeding and only a limited amount on a special occassion. The alcohol will get into your baby's system otherwise and they only need a small amount to get alcohol poisoning since they are so small. Good Luck.

I had a friend that cut and died her hair while she was pregnant and it did not hurt the baby. She did research before she did this and everything she could find said that it was okay. As for drinking the only reason that i can think of is that whatever you eat and drink gets passed on to the baby in the milk so it will in turn mean the baby is also 'drinking'.

as far as the cut and die you should wait till the second trimester and no you shouldnt drink and breast feed. What you doing when your breastfeeding is giving your child nutrients i dont think alcohol would go very well with that. its kinda like when your pregnant what you do to yourself is what your doing to your baby. neways. good luck hope your hair looks great when your done. i think its good to get a change when your preggo bc you feel so pretty and all. i got my hair trimmed and it grew like 2-3 inches bc of the prenatal i was taking .
shrty currently 25wks due on 04/24/07 baby girl

Your hormones can make your hair react to hair dye in a bad way. I had a friend who colored her hair and it turned bright orange on the part that had grown in since she got pregnant. You can cut it all you want, just don't let your hormones convince you that a G.I. Jane do will look good!
You can't drink when you are breastfeeding because the alcohol gets in your milk and then the baby drinks it. Simple as that!

I'm not sure about the hair thing hun, but i do know that you're not supposed to drink whilst breast feeding. This is because the alcohol will come out in your milk. Strange but true. It's also useful to know that if you eat garlic and sometimes even chocolate, your baby will taste it when he feeds!

Some doctors say no dye chemicals while pregnant...check with yours.
And yes, you cannot drink during pregnancy or afterward if you are breast feeding. Why? Because you are feeding the baby from your own body and the alcohol is in your breast milk...thereby endangering your child.

It hasn't been proven to be harmful to your baby to dye your hair, the only problem with dying your hair is that the dye doesn't stick to your hair like it normally would so your hair might not turn out the way you had planned. And its not a good idea to cut your hair when you are pregnant because your hair gets thicker and harder to manage when your taking all the vitamans. If you want your hair to turn out the way you imagine i would wait till after you have the baby. But if you chose not too , your baby will be fine! :)
