No... that iPod/Phone looking thing is not an iPhone, and never has been. It is a photoshoped image of an older model iPod (mini) and cell phone--put together.
The iPhone does seem very pricey right now, but some are expecting it to go down once Apple notices that not many won't sell, because of the dramatic price.

no that is someones conceptual image of what they thought one would look like. Apple has never made a phone, unless you count the newton 10 years ago and the ROKR, but that was a moto phone.

its a mockup,fake,photoshop,ect(not real) but the REAL iphone is coming out in june and is 499 for 4gb and 599 for 8gb.and will be cingular olny phone.
