Yes, I've heard of that. They don't want you to do too much so that it doesn't tear anymore than that. It may heal itself, just becareful not too move around to quickly.

I was 12 weeks pregnant and stood up only to have blood running down my leg. Went to the ER, ultrasound showed that the placenta was partially over my cervix and part of it had torn. I couldn't get over how much bleeding I had and still had a live baby in there.
Anyhow, he told me to stay on complete bedrest for a month and did a follow up scan and found that as my uterus got bigger, the placenta mirgated up and all was well again.
Long story short, if your placenta was pretty low in your uterus, and your uterus grew part of it might have torn a bit while moving up.
Think of your uterus as a balloon. The part you tie off is your cervix so it's pointed down. Imagine if you had something attached to the inside of the balloon while it were still not totaly blown up yet and part of it came loose as the balloon got bigger. It's okay as long as it's just a small tear and most of it stays attatched.
It had me scared to death, but as it turns out even a tiny tear while not hurting the pregnancy can bleed a great deal.
My advise, stay off your feet as much as possible because.
I don't know how far along you are so I don't know if this was any help or not. I really do wish the best for you and your baby.
Good luck!!!!!

As the old saying goes, been there done that. I had a placental tear at 11 weeks with my oldest child and was put on bedrest for 2 weeks. I abided to the doctor's orders and everything cleared up and turned out fine. My daughter will be 5 at the end of this month.

Did you Dr call it Abruptio Placenta? This is where the placenta tears loose from the uterine wall early in a pregnancy. There is some bleeding, and usually when it happens there is a tearing sensation along with it. Sometimes painful.
