BEFORE I BEGIN, I REALIZE THAT NOT ALL PEOPLE THINK THIS WAY, AND I AM ONLY ADDRESSING THOSE PEOPLE WHO DO.

Why is it that some guys sleep with lots of girls, and brag to their friends, and this is encouraged, like its some sort of sport, but when a girl sleeps with alot of guys, she is labeled easy and slutty?

Why is it that some guys get really jealous when their girlfriend hangs out with male friends, but think that their girlfriend is being ridiculous if they get jealous when they hang out with their female friends?

Why do some guys feel really cool and specail when they cheat on their girlfriend, but if they found out their girlfriend was cheating on them, they would hate her?

Why do some guys encourage straight girls to make out, and get completely and utterly grossed out if someone suggests that two guys kiss?

It all boils down to perception of sexuality.

In scenario 1, the double standard is a result of the need (by men) to keep women's sexuality under close scrutiny so a man can be sure his offspring is his. Women know, men don't. So women's sexuality must be curtailed for the benefit of men's peace of mind. Meanwhile they go out and celebrate theirs.

The second is similar, but it's a cross of the first and the third. The third is ownership (it's part of the first problem too). Many guys perceive that once they sleep with a woman, they own a 'piece' of her. If she sleeps with another guys, she's given him a piece of the first guy's property. But HE's not property, so he can go get as many pieces as he wants.

The fourth is a different sort of perception. When girls have sex with each other, the guy pictures himself somehow getting involved (ha ha). But for two guys - this is complicated. The male is the penetrator. For a male to be penetrated, which is the case in gay male sex, is an affront to the very definition of straight male sexuality. It challenges the very essense of their self-perception. Two women receiving from each other does not challenge the basis of their sexuality, so it is not threatening to women.

Hope that helps. I think awareness of these perceptions helps put them in perspective.

I make fun of guys that bang every chick in sight because they will contract and STD and I won't. =)

Jealousy is a trust thing. I don't really have an answer.

I've never heard of the feeling cool and special. I'd feel horrible if I ever cheated.

Hahaha... I have no idea because... it's just gross!
