guppies, goldfish, etc have capacity to store sperm and multiply faster than rabbits. They are also carnivores that eat their young. Removing the young took away an expected food source and if you continued to feed the mommies, they automatically make more and more babies. yep thats true, guppies are livebearer and hold sperm for months which give birth to free swimming fish without a male in the tank, guppies are easy to breed and will breed on their own instead of laying eggs, i use to raise them and mate the fancy kind to make all kinds of color, i once created a black and dark orange snakeskin one, man i loved that fish, i still have 1 fancy guppy, its purple and black.
