Try to get in touch with a women's shelter by calling the police in your area. They often make arrangements with local lawyers for free or low-cost divorces and such for shelter clients.

No......not many lawyers are pro bono. It's by far best that you save your money and get a lawyer who is experienced in custody/divorce. It'll payoff in the longrun. Best of luck to you....
