For movies you will probably not see a difference that is worth the $450 price tag, the main advantage would be in gaming. It can run in Windows XP, just not using DirectX 10, that is only availabe in Windows Vista. DirectX 10 is the next generation of DirectX, it makes games run smoother and with better quality.

haha 5 star!! well, since Vista hasn't even come out, I find that hardly true. It will improve in performance when you watch movies and you game, but the thing is if your happy with your current card's performance, you don't require more of your hardware, and you wont change your video quality settings, you shouldn't change, if you want higher detail on the textures and higher resolution on your games, you will notice a difference racing the 2 cards against each other. DX is the graphics platform windows uses for advanced graphics (games and such that are 2d, Direct3d is for 3d games), it's the windows-only equivalent of OpenGl let's say. That's why you'll see games having the DirectX logo, because they were developed to use DX's libraries. some video editing software use DX or OpenGl to perform their effects and editing, if you have DX or OpenGl accelerated hardware, you'll have a clear advantage on performance.

Cheers
