Type it in Word so it spells it correctly and use www.dictionary.com to find the definitions. Then you can make flashcards of the words and definitions and memorize it that way.

Let's start with the difference between "there" and "their." The first means "in that place," while the second means "belonging to them."

Having got this far, I would suggest that you consult a dictionary ,make a list of 10 words per day, write the word (with correct spelling) and the definition. Repeat the list several times, and during the course of the day, try to use the new words in conversation.

After you've look up a word and its various meanings; make up 10 sentences with that word in each of them, preferable make use of all its meanings. Write all sentences down or type them. Correct your misspelling of the word and rewrite the sentence until you could write that word correctly.

Then, each time you run into the word in a book or article, circle it and look at the context it's used in that passage. You'll be so familiar with its spelling and meanings, it'll become part of you.

Do you know how to spell supermarket and hamburger? Do you know their meanings? Did you have to work hard to memorize their spelling and meanings? Of course not. Why? Because you've seen them a million times and have written them hundreds/ thousands of times yourself. Other words will work in the same way!

I recommend writing them in color, and draw shapes around the ones that are particularly difficult. This causes both hemispheres of your brain to record them. It's a trick I learned in high school.
