Hi, im looking for a cheap roundback accoustic guitar. Ive got a normal accoustic not but i just feel it a bit bulky. I play electric mostly, but just need something bit more portable. Do you get less sound out of a rounback or are they something that should be bought expesivley? I was looking at this one

I think Ovations sound great! The round back takes a little while to get used to. Applause makes a less expensive version of an Ovation made in Korea.

Ovation is probably the best known "round back", as you call them. There are several knock-offs on the market. I have an Ovation Celebrity and just love it. You could check into the thin-line electric accoustics. There are several that are worthy of buying. They are half as thin as a typical accoustic box and have great sound. I've seen them go from $80 on up. I bought a Carlos Robelli model of an electric acoustic thin-line for $80 (used) and is sounds pretty nice. A decent set of Martin strings is always nice too. Good Luck.

First of all "do not" and i repeat "do not" buy musical instruments from eBay unless it comes with a "money back guarantee". As far as Round backs i would recommend an Ovation Guitar. Yet, there is another option since I went through the same situation of only playing electric guitar all my life and suddenly changing to acoustic guitar. I found the dreadnought guitar way to big for me. But, there was a thinner guitar that i found from Ibanez which really help me transition from electric guitar to acoustic guitar. The dimensions of the acoustic is not bigger than an average strat (Length wise) and about 1 1/2 to 2 inches (Depth wise). Click on the link below if you prefer a different option other than a roundback.

by far ovation is the king of round backs. I have one. My only issue with that type is it is a little harder to play sitting down. The round back wants to slide around on your leg.
