butter flavored crisco is MUCH better than butter. It doesn't burn and it just makes a better cookie.

unfortunatly, for taste and texture, crisco butter flavored shortning works best. Made toll house cookies for thirty years or more, butter never does as good as the shortning.

of all the baking i've done the recipes usually call for unsalted butter. i don't know why that's what you use, but my cookies are always great.
