Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. This was the "dark movie" from the original trilogy. No happy ending here. Luke lost his hand and Han Solo was frozen in carbonite and taken away by Boba Fett. Definitely the best!

The orig trilogy is the best. The prequels were terrible with all the changes they made to the understood backstory, and the whole Anakin/Amidala thing was very poor writing and chemistry. Only things I liked about the prequels were the realistic saber fights, and Ewan's Obi Wan portrayal.
