I know there is no positive way to find out if an unborn child is a boy or girl without an ultrasound...but i wanted to see if anyone had any cute ideas or wives tales about how to get a good guess?? for example...the needle over the belly thing. anything like that?? any help would be appriciated...thanks!

ok-this isnt an old wives tale--it's a study that was done by doctors a couple years ago.
in the majority of women they tested--those that craved meat, protein, fruits and veggies were carrying boys.
the women that went for the bland stuff--pasta, bread, rice
were carrying girls.
I actually was into the bread and pasta a lot -because of morning sickness the only foods I wanted were bland things.
but I am having a girl.

The best indicator is the ultrasound. Heartrate is another. Boys' hearts tend to beat a little faster than girls'. There's always the ring over the belly test, but that's subject to air currents and the whim of the person holding the string. I'd hold out for proof. Is it a Boy or a Girl, the old wives tale suggest that fetal heart rates above 140 bpm are a sure sign it's going to be a girl and fetal heart rates below 140 bpm mean it's a boy. This "theory" is based on the fact that girls have higher metabolisms than boys.
This worked for me, I have one of each !

Everyone I know said that the heart rate was the best determination for them. Girls tend to have faster heartbeats (145 and up) Boys are under 145. It was true with me and I had a girl and a boy. I tried the chinese calendar and it didn't work. There is also a site called Fortune baby and they predicted correctly when I was pregnant with my son.

1.They say if your belly is wide its a girl but if its compact like a basketball its a boy. (not true for me)
2.If your nose get big and swollen its a girl if your nose and face do not swell its a boy. (true for me)
3.If the baby's father gains weight with you its a boy if he doesn't its a girl. (true for me)
4.Take a piece of thread and place your wedding band on it. Hold it over your belly and watch the motion. Circle= boy or if it swings from side to side its a girl. (true for me)
5. The chinese calendar (not true for me)

Sweet tooth for a girl, savoury for a boy. Was defo in my case anyway. I was convinced I was having a boy but never stopped eating cakes and muffins and anything sweet, anyway I had a girl :-)

if the stomach is very big and round it is a girl.
if you had a little girl before and she is happy that shes getting a sibling its a girl but if she doesnt want a sibling its a boy. also if the stomach is shaped like a watermelon its a girl.

If there is a lot of kicking.. is it supposed to be a girl. if kicking is ocasionally.. then you have a boy.. thats how i heard that the story goes..
