Sounds like Braxton-Hicks. Tick-tock-tick-tock. It won't be long, but check with your OB/GYN for effacement and dilation. That's the real indicator.

Yes, you are experiencing Braxton-Hicks contractions. The uetrus is practicing for the big event. Some women rush to the ER thinking they are in labor, but they are told it is false labor...same thing. When the pains become timeable...then you call your doctor. Also, it might not be a bad idea, if you don't already have an appt scheduled, to go to his office and have him check you for dilation of the cervix.

It is highly possible your are experiencing Braxton Hicks Contractions. They are a tightening of the abdomen. They are normal and its your body's way of preparing for labor. A good way to help reduce it sometimes is to drink a large glass of water and lay on your left side.
However, Braxton Hicks NEVER hurt. They are mildly uncomfortable. If you are getting tightening that is associated with pain (in your lower abdomen, lower back, side etc) you should contact your l Labor and Delivery dept of your local hospital, explain your symptoms and see what suggestions they have for you. They may have you come in to see if you are in the beginnings of labor, especially at 39 weeks.
Good luck

Yup. That's prelabor. You are not actually in labor, until your water breaks, or you contractions become regular. As in roughly the same amount of duration and space in between each contraction. But you don't have too much longer from the sound of it. Good Luck!

I am the Mother of 3 so have been where you are now. Yes it is normal as you are late in the pregnancy. I would not be surprised if you had the baby in the next week. OOO and by the way "Congratulations"

You sound like you are having braxton hicks. your tummy gets really hard and you feel some tightening and pressure. i had them all the time before i had my baby...it's just your body's way of getting ready for the big event. you will know when it's a REAL contraction. they hurt down low in your abdomen and feel like menstral cramps. Congrats on your upcoming new baby!!

Yep...your body is getting ready for the big day! Take it easy, enjoy what little time you have left before you're feeding, diapering, bathing your new little one. Good luck and I wish you the best in both delivery and your future with your child :)

you are probably having what is called Braxton Hicks Contractions..they are preparing your body for real contractions. if these continue and come closer together consistently...then you'd better get ready for delivery

yes i am 36 weeks with my 3rd child and i get that . I would watch it and time them . If you have questions i would go to the hospital and let them check you to see where your dialated to and make sure it isn't back labor . Back labor is harder to decide weither your actually in labor or not .
