Depends on why you need a hysterectomy (or alternate). If you don't want any more children, have your tubes tied. If you are having problems with your period, maybe thermal ablasion...your uterus is filled with saline, it is then heated, burning off the lining of your uterus. I had this done because of heavy periods (as an alternative to a hysterectomy). I didn't have a period for almost a year after the procedure and since I started having one again it only lasts about 2 days and is very light.

If you just want to avoid more babies, then lots. The pill, the coil and condoms are to name just a few and more drastically, sterilisation. The best person to talk to will be your doctor or local family planning clinic.
If, however you need a hysterectomy for medical reasons and you are not sure why it has been suggested, then go back to the person that told you this (book an appointment don't just ring up) and ask them to explain it again. A hysterectomy should not be considered at all for birth control.

It depends why you need a hysterectomy, I am 38 years old and with four children and had a hysterectomy 7 weeks ago because of my heavy periods. The doctor had tried hormone tablets and the mirena coil but nothing worked with me so in the end he decided on the operation. I had an abdominal one because I had to have the ovaries out as I had lots of cysts. Are you children grownup? because I have one age 4 and recovery for me has been quite dificult but I know in the longrun I am going to feel better.Good luck in whatever decision you make.

Hysterectomy is usually only done if you have fibroids or questionable cancer of your uterus.

You can have a laparoscopic procedure(laparoscopic tubal ligation) that will destroy your ovaries and keep you from ever getting pregnant again. If that is what you are wanting, then visit a physician and discuss options. It is a simple procedure and you will only experience minor pain, because a tube goes into your umbilicus and two more punctures and everything will be taken care of.

Uterine fibroids are usually not dangerous, but can cause immense discomfort and lead to complications like anemia from heavy blood loss. In rare cases, they may cause complications that affect pregnancy.

In cases where there are no symptoms, treatment may not be necessary. However, proper diagnosis and treatment may be required if your symptoms are severe or causing complications. Along with conventional treatment, you can try some natural home remedies. Read here https://tr.im/eR3LF

Why do you want the hysterectomy? To prevent ovarian cancer or something?

I know they can snip your tubes instead, although they might grow back together it has happened before.

Just make more babies it's what your put on earth for anyways...

p.s. and house work...

Why do you need a hysterectomy? Usually this is done for medical reasons. So if you have a medical condition, follow your doctors advice, but please, get a second opinion.

I'm not sure of your reasoning. To prevent future pregnancy? If so, you can get your tubes cut and tied. Or your husband can get a vasectomy.
