Fuzzy type yarns are hard to work with. If you really want to use them, I suggest setting them aside until you are more comfortable with knitting. It will be easier once you are to the point you could "knit with your eyes closed". :)
Otherwise, donate them as someone else pointed out.

For a beginner that is a tough yarn to work with ... maybe save it till you're better at working the needles and yarn
I just learned knit myself but I'm very good at crochet ...and I've done a few projects with that yarn - hats - scarves - trim on blanket, hat, scarf - and even a bird.
using a larger needle does help ... also consider using held together with a plain yarn ... the variation is nice and the plain yarn gives a little more visual to work with (especially if you use a contrasting or shades lighter/darker)
My mother knits and has done the same (except for the bird) she likes to stick to the basics of hats, scarves and blankets (less patient than I am)
best thing is to go on line (lots of yarn brands have websites) and see if you can pick out a similar yarn type and look at the patterns and suggestions on working with these yarns.
The more experience you have the easier it will be

I agree with the person who said to use large size needles. It sounds like you're using needles that smaller, and that accounts for your frustration. When you are using that kind of yarn you shouldn't use anything smaller than size 11.
Is it the fun fur type or is it chenille? Because if it is chenille you should use size 15, If it is fun fur, you can use size 11 or, run it with a strand of worsted weight yarn and use size 13's.
Good luck! Don't give up quite yet, but if you do end up giving up, there are tons of people who would love to receive that yarn. Consider signing up for a freecycle in your area.

LOL. I know what you mean. That yarn can be a major PITA. But stick with it. You can combine it with other yarns too. I did, and made a great blanket. Save it or send it to me!!! I made quite a few scarves with that yarn that came out very nice.
Seriously, you will get better with practice.

You can give it away to a senior center, school (elementary school art teachers will usually take all the donated supplies they can), or somewhere they can use it in crafts or other things. Perhaps you should give it back to the Jim Henson group to see if the muppets need fresh, new coats.
