I have been wanting a new iPod for a while now, and want to know from all you apple gurus if now is a good time to get a new ipod (video) or if an update is expected soon. Also, if anyone has a good recommendation for a player like the ipod video, I would like to hear it. Thanks!

after mac world this morning the answer is yes, there will be no new ipods for at least 8 months
i notice someone marked down my comment,,,,THERE WILL BE NO UPDATES FOR AT LEAST 8 MONTHS...this was confirmed at the macworld expo this morning
now IS a good time to buy one

It all depends on how much you want to pay. With technology it's always improving so even if you purchase a brand new ipod chances are they will improve in the future, but that happens with everything technical all the time. It doesn't mean you should hold off just because something might come out that's better because there will always be advancements. Ipod videos here are selling for around $300 close to $400 if you get the warrenty which I would highly suggest since instore warrenties on these only last like a month. Anything that you're investing a large amount of money on, definately get a warrenty because if anything goes wrong after the in store is up, you'll have to front the whole thing again. The ipod videos do look great, the quality is just like you'd see on your tv. If you're in the right financial place to afford one I suggest it.

Yep now is the right time to buy an ipod nothing is coming out except the iphone not sure if it plays video

Yea, esp the Red(PRODUCT) 8gb nano, it looks really sexy and they aint common as you can only buy them from apple stores and apple direct. Chances are you won't know any1 who has 1 so you will be unique instead of just following the crowd with the standard iPod colours.

wait a little longer, they might come up with an ipod that has a radio in it and wireless internet and all of that stuff. Hey, they might even come up with an ipod and a camera in one called icamera. I'd like that

You should wait. An update should be coming soon. You do not want to be stock with an old model.

All i know is january is the best time to get one. They are cheaper and the best models came out just before christmas.
