Well, this is strictly based on opinion, but I will say for me, the answer would be Christopher Nolan's "Memento". This is among the best movies I will ever see, and to be able to present it in the way it was (reverse) and to be effective in doing so was great to see. It was nominated for two other awards I think, but failed to capture either. I also give a mention to "Se7en" and "The Usual Suspects". All 3 of these movies are in my top 5 all time faves.

"The Passion of the Christ" probably because of un-PC subject matter? Pity it was an 18 in the UK, as the violence was essential to the story and many teenagers would have been more uplifted by seeing this than many a PG, 12 or 15 full of gratuitous violence.
