planed parenthood centers do not give out anything that needs a perscription. if you are under age you need a parent or guardian and your doctor is the only one who can perscribed birth control pills. planned parenthood is just that, planned ,people!. the most they can do is give you info on what help you can get if you do become pregnant and maybe condoms(abstenance people!)
gah! ..and the health department can only do std tests and give condoms..not pregnancy test or birth control pills.

This is cool. Not your question, but the answers you are getting. I have been a financial supporter of Planned Parenthood for years. Excellent organization. Depending on the local chapter, you may be able to get free condums - nothing wrong with a girl having them if she is planning to have sex because guys never seem to plan ahead.

My cousin is able to get a 3 month supply of "the pill" for $3 and the doctor was $10. All through Planned Parenthood.

The local chapters provide differing services, some even assist with finding a doctor for an abortion. You're doing the smart thing and preventing the pregnancy, good for you.

You don't specify your age, but you should also use Planned Parenthood for their educational services. They can teach you about all the "dangers" of sex. I'm sure you understand sex is a lot of fun, but it has a lot of repurcusions way beyond getting pregnant. Aids, STD's, and Cancer. Early sexual activity can increase your chances of getting cervical cancer at an early age.

good luck and please contact Planned Parenthood for the full treatment.

I personally will discourage doing this without your parents knowing- however, I think that your parents are supposed to consent to any prescriptions you may want/require as a teenager. Once you are 18, then you can likely do it on your own. HOWEVER, I think if you THINK you are mature enough to have sexual intercourse, then you SHOULD be mature enough to tell your parents that you want to go on the pill. I think this day and age though, that you SHOULD also be more concerned about STD's then having a kid. SO, PLEASE make sure IF you are having sex, you are using condoms. There are places you can go to get free condoms and likely free or very inexpensive pills, and your parents insurance may even cover the cost of the pill. The pill is not something to mess around with either. There are side effects of it and as a child, you may be very likely to forget to take it, especially if you are trying to keep it hidden from your parents. I think you should definately do some growing up before you go on the pill, because if you can't tell your parents, you shouldn't be doing the acts that you would be going on it for.

If you are having sex [and obviously you are] you should not be worried JUST about pregnancy! Doesn't anyone realize that the pill does NOT protect against HIV and any other STD's??? Do you really think that a baby is worse than slowly dying??? My husband works with people with HIV. He's lost two clinets in the last six months. They died horrible deaths because they were sick. Is that better than having a baby??? I'd rather have the baby than HIV. Do yourself a favor, either stop having sex until you are older and in a secure relationship or use condoms!! You could end up killing yourself over a few minutes of pleasure. So not worth it.

If you have a Planned Parenthood in your city or nearby, they will examine you, do a pap smear (required before going on oral contraceptives) and the prescribe a method or you. Pills, IUDs,
patches, rings etc. all have to be purchased with a prescritpion. Condoms are cheap and easy to use and can be purchased at the grocery store. They have a privacy act that protects you.

If you know anyone in college, they can get the pill really cheep with a discount cause of college.

If you go just to get a check up, you can ask the doctor and they won't tell your parents. The pill don't cost that much. They make a lot of different brands.

Planned Parenthood but they are NOT free. They do a consultation that can vary in price. At mine, the consultation is 42 and each bc pill pack is around 20ish dollars.
