hello,

I'm taking up squash, but would like to get a decent racket rather than just a beginner's one - any tips?

Get the best racket you can afford. Buying a cheaper racket will ultimately hamper your game when you improve. Also, with the more expensive ones you can get them professionally re-strung depending on whether the strings are just plain worn out or you want more wallop or more accuracy.

firstly u want to go for a racket which is made out of titanium as opposed to alluminium as it it not only lightweight but strong and u want a one peice racket which is basically one single mould with no joints - joints =weakness the nature of the game will cause the strings to become worn and damaged after a certain time depending on how often u play so its important that once u've purchased a decent racket to have it restrung regulary - ask ur local gym or sports store as to where u could get this done -Price does not only determine a decent racket but does give u an idea as to the specification of it as titanium will generally cost more than alluminium.
