they should start eating on their own completely by three weeks, but as someone else has already said, they can eat solids very soon after birth. I have seen them separated from their mother at only a week old with decent results, though I wouldn't suggest it.

They start to eat normal food almost straight away, they will still feed from the mother, but will have a chomp on the mixer, you can also give them fresh veg which is very important to them anyway, but more at an earlier age. They grow up so quickly. Good luck with the little one.

guniea pigs are born mini adults, completely able to eat normal foods within hours of being born...
They as well as this still suckle milk from their mum for around 3 weeks, as by the time they are 4 weeks old, the boys have to be seperated from the girlies, as believe it or not it is possible for the baby boys to be fertile at this age.
I absoutly love baby guniea pigs, they look like as if their heads are to big for the rest of their bodies

I'm not sure what you are classifying as "normal" food... but i'll try to answer as best I can. My youngest Guinea is 3-4 months old, and my oldest is 4-5 months. THey vary in foods, and I think it may be because of age. My youngest its simple foods, like lettuce carrot SLICES and simpler foods like that. Apples she loves. My older one eats anything you place in the dish!! I would put pellets in the cage as an ALWAYS. As far as people food goes, try some lettuce, apples, etc. If you put in some objects ( such as hard treats ) you can watch how he/she is chewing. Hope I was of some help!

They usually start eating normal food pretty soon after they are born. They still need the mother's milk, but they will try different things. Make sure the water bottle is low enough for them.

They will start eating a little bit in a couple of days. DON'T FEED THEM LETTUCE OR CARROTS. They will nurse also for 3 weeks. Pellets, timothy hay, and veggies recommended at guinealynx.com. The webs will give all the help you need

i used to breed guinea pigs. i had some wild oats/barley growing in the garden and i found that babys fed on that as well as meal and veg grew really well and lived longer than those who were fed on just on meal and veg. dont feed lettuce or cucumber as they contain to much water and can give them colic. how old is your baby?
