i think Nevil is a good character. he is funny but after the fifth book becomes very complex. you find out about his past and realize what he has been put through i would have to say he is an important character and think he is pretty cool.

I love Neville and I think there's a lot more to him than just a lack of self-confidence. He has a real moral compass and is intensely loyal. He's grown up quite a bit in books 5 and 6 and I worry about what will happen to him in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows." He's always there when Harry needs him and I'm afraid that he'll sacrifice himself to help Harry because he will know that it's the right thing to do. He's a good, reliable person, and the world could use more real Neville Longbottoms.

I do like Neville.
I think it's natural that he comes into mind because he's kind of like what Harry COULD have been if he was a normal boy. Of course, Harry is a bit different, (he's got some different talents and characteristics).
Neville's also brave; it just takes Neville a bit longer to show it. He's also got some other scarily similar qualities of Harry's. For instance, he is a bit reckless and in the 5th book, he accidentally drops the prophecy.
He's "rubbish" on a broom, but he's really brave when he tries to fight Crabbe and Goyle in the 1rst book.
Neville is just a bit shyer... He's kind of a social outcast because he's such a geek (but some of us can relate to both him and Harry for reasons like that... not always being well-liked).
I like Neville, and I think the actor from the movies (Matt Lewis) also does a good job portraying him. He's sorta clumsy, cute and brave and lots more...

Neville has to be one of the few virtually flawless characters in the entire series. He is kind-natured, sweet, loyal and possesses a quiet courage. He's one of the few friends that Harry knows he can always count on for support without judgement. I also like that Neville will stand up for what he believes in and he doesn't care what anyone says (look how he was going to stop the trio wandering off in 'The Philosopher's Stone' even if it cost him their friendship).
I also think there is much more to him than meets the eye. All of his problems in magic seem to root from lack of control and self-confidence rather than him being a low level wizard. After all, apart from Harry and Draco, he was one of the only kids in his class in the first book who was able to call his broom to him first time and fly. I hope now that he's growing up, he will have his chance to shine in the final book.

Of course!
Neville is a wonderful and loyal person AND friend. He could have even been the boy who lived. All he needs is a bit of self- confidence and he's good to go!

I think that Neville's a sweet boy, and that he would be far better with Ginny than anyone else. He just needs to get more self-confidence.

Well of course we like Neville. After all, he could have been THE BOY WHO LIVED instead of Harry.
I like Fred and George the best, though. BTW, I am a 40+ year old.
