Can't understand why so many people care so much about what other people think about them. Really seems CRAZY to me.Just remember "Until you have walked a mile in my shoes DON'T judge me.

That would be a really hard question to answer, it depends on the husband or child, do they do good in a home where there are nurses and needles, and meds around them 24/7. Or do they feel more comfortable at home, with their family? If she is unable to take care of him, there are agaencies that will come in a nd take care of him for her. But if he does not feel safe in a home, do not put him there, because it may make the matters worse.

I suppose it depends on the exact situation. My uncle (my dad's oldest brother) is severely retarded, and he was never put in a home. On the other hand, my other uncle (my mom's youngest brother) is quite inteligent and we had to send him to a nice home where he's under constant watch. (Inteligent... but not always so bright. Lots of drugs, lots of other very bad things.) We don't get judged a lot, when they look at the list of things my uncle did. When they find out he can do calculus, but can't be trusted alone in a room with his own daughter, no one blames us for putting him away.

I don't really get your question. Put her retarded husband WHERE?

Oh, wait...I didn't see it. In a home. I wouldn't feel like I had to tell anyone anything, and you owe no one an explanation! Even so, yeah, I would maybe say in some circumstances I felt I had to do it.

the ONLY thing you can promise yourself in this situation is that you will do your best,,,if however your best just isnt good enough,,what then,,suffer in silence, refuse help, set back their quality of health, make their life full of stress to compensate your own stress? OR admit you cannot help that person, that you cannot cope and that they would receive better care, physically, mentally and emotionally elsewhere,,morally there is no choice,,emotionally there is turmoil but that is you and not them and their needs must always come first,,what others think is irrelevant, they do not have that life and sitting judging on high is fine until you fall off.

When people become dangerous to themselves or others or it is impossible for them to be cared for in the home then you do what you have to do. You`ll beat yourself up enough for it without friends or family adding anything. Look for a support group in your city and people with similar circumstances to help answer your questions and sort out your feelings.

I would actually be wondering what took them so long to take this step.

Sometimes, "the home" is the best of the alternatives. You have to look out for yourself, not just for everyone else around you.

Put him where? To death? In a home? Working the street as a male fag prositute? Put him in the microwave? In the swimming pool? In the Army? Up you a**?

I think most people realize that some people are so physically impaired that they need CONSTANT proffessional supervision and wouldnt judge someone for giving that to them.

Re-state the question. Too much is unclear. Child? Husband?
