new contract and they will want you to pay for the phone if it is half decent. threaten to cancel your contract if you cant upgrade for free and you should get it free. if not, cancel and get a new contract

The condition of an upgrade is that your contract is extended for another year (or 18 months, depending on your initial contract). You want a new phone, you are tied the 02 for another year, kind of thing... You don't always get the phone for free... if it's top of the range, they may want something like £50...
However, be firm with them.. I've been with Vodafone for yonks, paying them £60 odd per month, and they never offered me a decent phone on an upgrade... so I decided to cancel & go to 02... on hearing this, they were all over me! Gave me the phone I wanted for free, gave me an even better deal than 02, and changed my 18 mth contract to a 12 mth one!! They will walk all over you if you're not clear about what you want. Good luck!!

All those cell companies that offer a free upgraded phone after one or two years requires you to sign a new contract.

New phone, new contract. That's for ALL the networks, just in case you were thinking of changing for a better deal.

No its usually with another 12 month contract (unfortunately there is always a catch, you don't get anything for nothing in this world)

You`ll have to have a new contract. The phone is part of the package.

they provide 18 months because of the fact that is extra effective for them long term era to get you to come to a decision to extra months and extra effective for you too as you get a extra effective deal. besides the undeniable fact that I might desire to agree which you will possibly desire to nevertheless have the determination of a 12 month settlement if that's what you like in spite of if the deal isn't as sturdy. it form of feels mad which you're actually not being provided this thinking you're a VIP shopper. the secret's that with that variety of month-to-month spend the different networks might prefer to have you ever on board so if I have been you i might ask for a %variety (the code you ought to use to flow your cellular variety to a various community) and see if the %request changes O2's stance.
