A vast majority of us are on the computer way too much especially the younger folks. The sad part is, most of us don't realize that we are 'addicted' to the net.

Go ahead and keep track of every minute you spend online, be it for school, work, or um the new generation of myspacers and youtubers. Most of us go through withdrawal symptoms if we have to stay away from our respective loving laptops and/or desktops for a couple days. It will not be long before we have counselors specifically to help people cope with internet addiction (maybe they already do).

Spending excessive time on the net decreases the quality of your life (depending on how many hours you spend and how addicted you are). Eventually you start to see the adverse effect of it on your work, your school, your relationship, your health even. We need to go back 20 years and think about the life the younger generation of those days had. They were far more active and indulged in outdoor activities more. They had more time to spend with loved ones and doing things they loved doing.

Is there a way out? Sadly no, but you can take steps to help yourself and in turn help everyone around you. Force yourself to be away from your respective laptop for a day, see if you can survive. Eventually you will not only survive, but you may use that time a lot more beneficially, say, spending time with someone you like perhaps.

I sit in a chair. The computer is on the floor. I am not on a computer. I use the computer, but I am not on it.
I do use a computer for recreation more than I should. If I had television, then I would likely be watching it too much; maybe not. When I had television my time watching dropped as programming became less appealing.

It is hard to not be on the computer, school, homework, research, reading news stories, shopping, video games, there is just so much to do with a computer. I don't know if it is too much but it sure can add up.
